Why should everything be spilled in internet and media, why do you expect it?
There are secrecy on certain projects and we better get used to this secrecy, some project might seem to be delayed, postponed, inferior but in fact there are progress' which should be kept secret, at certain projects we may not exactly know the maximum range or true capabilities.

I am all for keeping certain things under wraps. Especially when it involves military secrets. But that does not stop us speculating and theorising logical results.
So if these “real” ranges are to be kept as secret, what is being shared with public should be more realistic and not induce logical speculation!!

JSM have smaller warhead too.

You could with modifications increase SOM's range to 400-500+ km exchange of room for warhead.

Here is an important point! The “Smaller Warhead”!!
Harpoon’s latest long range version utilises a warhead much smaller than the previous version but with more explosive power.
We need to look in to explosive technology in more depth. No point in carrying excess weight.
Harpoon block 2 has a range of 70 nmiles (130km) and 221kg of explosives
Harpoon block 2+ER has a range of 167 nmiles (310km) and 140kg explosives. This harpoon also uses a more fuel efficient turbojet.
Boeing claims that this “more lethal” harpoon is also superior to the NSM.

Yes, if i remember correct we did pay for a single engine 100k dollar. I do understand why people are concern about Kale engine, but ther is not much need for now. When we start with Atmaca and SOM block 2 they will need that new Kale engine. For longer range and payload.

As long as Kale keeps improving the engine it would be acceptable as the engine will be better in time. And if emergency needs come up the engine could be produced with whatever performance level it can provide. That is given that everything that needs to be worked on can already be achieved to a certain degree and can be put together at a short notice.

No, this is not acceptable at all.
Project was given to Kale for them to finish in 4 years. It has been 8 years with no final product in sight.

Let's not advocate a failed company here. In private sector if you delay the delivery of a project or product by 4 years, no one will work with you again.

Further more, we are improving the engine is the polite way of saying that current engine doesn't meet the requirements of SSB. You can't start mass producing immediately while you are still in middle of development phase.

Maybe it time to accept some realities, that you can't make good decades of neglect and the development takes longer than anticipated. A lot of our deadlines and dates are maybe politically motivated, especially those with the magic number 2023.
