The technical specifications of the MAM-L IIR and MAM-T IIR Mini Smart Ammunition developed by Roketsan have been announced. Both ammunition has approximately twice the range of the previous versions.

Roketsan, which developed Turkey's first UAV ammunition, is adding new members with different seeker heads to its MAM-L, MAM-C and MAM-T product family with laser seeker heads. In this context, Roketsan completed the testing activities of MAM-L IIR and MAM-T IIR ammunition, with which it integrated the imaging infrared (IIR) seeker head, together with BAYKAR.

According to information obtained by SavunmaSanayiST.com; While MAM-L ammunition with laser seeker head has a range of 15 kilometers and a weight of 22 kilograms, MAM-L IIR has a range of 25+ kilometers and a weight of 23 kilograms. MAM-L ammunition; It has fragmentation, high explosive, anti-tank and thermobaric warhead options. MAM-L IIR has a multi-purpose warhead with fragmentation effect and anti-tank features. Among the main target types of MAM-L IIR; personnel, main battle tank, radar antenna, etc. There are ground targets and armored vehicles.

The laser seeker version of MAM-T, the most explosive member of the MAM series ammunition, has a range of 30+ kilometers and a weight of 95 kilograms. MAM-T IIR weighs 96 kilograms and has a range of 50+ kilometers. While MAM-T has particle impact, high explosive and thermobaric warhead options, MAM-T IIR has fragmentation and thermobaric warhead options.

I wonder if we have these missiles in good enough quantities. Greeks were talking about "preemptive strikes" a few years back. They need to be aware of the fact that we have an immense second strike capability that would block their fighter squadrons from being usable for a second or third sortie.

Abdullah Bekçi wrote a very good X flood about this. He outlines that Greek airfields are great in quantity and spread across a large area. A significant chunk being in islands. His conclusion was that completely neutralizing Greek air bases would be nigh impossible without massive amounts of very precise ballistic missiles. Now, I think that Greek logistical (and command & control) capability can't handle even half the damage that mr. Bekçi imagines. Especially the new F-35s HAF will be getting will require special care, and only a few airbases will be fit to house F-35s.

All in all, we need really, really large amounts of ballistic missiles, preferably fired from east of Ankara, to be used as a crippling second strike capability to disable Hellenic Air Force if needed.

*They have 6x MIM-104 batteries. (With PAC-3 interceptors) Judging from its performance in Ukraine, I say these batteries will should down hundreds of ballistics targets unless destroyed through effective DEAD. (Though, I don't think they will be able to knock out Chenk)

*F35 can be operated from remote airfields and even highways with the pre-prepared logical set up. (Which I assume Greeks would keep in mind given their context)

Russia launched hundred of SRBMs before the first patriot battery arrived in Ukraine to precisely knock out the Ukrainian AF on the ground. It wasn't as easy as expected.

Also, TSK may not want to launch hundreds of expensive missiles in few early attacks. Because those takes quite some times to manufacture and replenish the stock.

Also, keep in mind passive BMD could be in play here. Which matters. USA has Aegis Ashore in Romania. There could be several Aegis ships or European vessels equipped with SMART L around that may provide early warning. (With a really advanced C4 system, you could get the alarm within tens of seconds. SRBMs would take 3/4 minutes to strike the targets)

I am being a bit devil's advocate here. But it is always better to be prepared for the worse or when things doesn't go according to initial plan. It's an interesting scenario requiring joint and combined fight from TSK with each service operating in multipledomains at once.

Mostly a sound plan. however, as Afif has mentioned, they do have Patriots. Not all of them are PAC-3 yet, but they do have 'em.

This barrage of BM's should be supplemented with cruise missiles, loitering munitions, and decoys.

Always liked the idea of a decoy/target missile based on TAYFUN. It is a big must for us if we are aiming for BMD with the next phase of SİPER. TAYFUN is a modern SRBM with mid-flight manuevering capabilities which is a plus.

Please note that greece has 144 patriot ready to be fired in 36 TEL. Most probably they will use 2 patriots for 1 ballistic missile in order to intercept them. This means 72 ballistic missiles, even if all of them can hit their targets, which is impossible. Thats all

Do not take into account their s 300s in a ballistic missile attack. They are bad against ballistic missiles and probably are in poor condition.

After the annihilation of their pac 2 and 3s and s 300s even our ucavs carrying siha 230, çakır, kuzgun, kgk, tolun, mam t, kemankeş will be big threat for their air and sea bases

Long story short we should follow the example of Azerbaijan and arm our selves to the teeth with thousands of loitering munitions, decoys and launchers/launching platforms from all weight and range classes, operable from land, air and sea, develop the tactics for their optimal usage and be ready to saturate the enemy air defences, bait the "big boys" to a level that can allow for a swiftly executed SEAD/DEAD operation deeming enemy air defences ineffective.

We can't only rely on costly cruise missile and ballistic missile strikes. Before that we must ensure the conditions for their optimal usage.

I am not aware of a same concept in development in Turkiye.

Well, it is known that TSK doesn't like to be an innovator or the "first to". While there are bad sides of this there is also a logical explanation and this is the already low defence budget.

Turkiye doesn't have the almost unlimited budget the US haves and this is why every development and acquisition is planned very specifically without much room for experimenting and especially taking in account that we should play with expensive cruise missiles, cargo planes and release systems... I don't see this happening anytime soon .

Also there is something in this concept that is not compatible with the way the Turkish Air Forces operate. We already have extremely overstretched and aging cargo fleet and I am not sure if we have the luxury to sacrifice logistics capacity in order to use a cargo plane in this specific role. This is why we bid on higher count of unmanned platforms (unmanned) that will be able to fire such weapons from standoff ranges.
