I always thought they put the project "back into the oven" since the prototype in the video fails to properly deploy its wings.

Great! But this is only the quarter of the story.
We need to be testing the 32-50 km range missiles, and then for both of them we need to carry out air to ground tests from Atak-129, Seahawk, TB3, Akinci etc.

These missiles will be partly replacing the Penguin AShM in our inventory too. So these tests should be done sooner rather than later. (I guess Kuzgun range and CAKIR to a certain extent would do a better job as an AShM. But the ER versions of Lumtas will still give a good varied, economical scope of attack profile)

We seem to be doing these tests fairly quickly, then unfortunately, only years later do we see them actually entering the inventory. Either financial constraints or bureaucracy seem to be the hindrance. (Still waiting for SOM-C and SOM-J for moving sea targets)

But there is something I can't understand for block 2. It is said that the local datalink to be used, that is, the T link, cannot transfer images. So what will be the benefit of the man in the loop feature? Can man in the loop be used effectively just by sharing location? The image (video) sharing would be very benefical for target update, re-targeting and impact evaluation and also propoganda during war

That's 120 km farther than previously declared range. "Well, damn" is quite right.

More importantly, it means any target that is 400km from Turkish shores are in range.

Plus, if they are revealing this as the effective range; in reality it is further away. In the Sea of Islands where those islands present a natural camouflage for a sea skimming missile, there is no surface platform that is safe in land or on the sea.

The sweet thing about developing your own missiles with your own subsystems is that you are no longer fettered with MTCR that restricts you from acquiring missiles above 300km range. This will only increase the gap between us and the countries that can't develop these weapons. Because they can't get those from abroad either(assuming the sides are signatory of MTCR)

I wish we saw some light at the end of Gezgin tunnel. It's been so long. That will be the true enabler

Reach is not the importance here,its the sea land skimming with that range what makes it a real danger.

Turkish navy did have these ASROC Anti Submarine Rocket Torpedoes. e g in Knox Class Frigates.
It had a 9km to 10 km range and had subsonic speed.
Later on it was developed in to RUM-139 version that is capable of being launched from a VLS and has a 1 Mach speed and 22km range.

Initial version has since been discontinued. It is a weapon circa Cold War era. Later iterations are still around.

The most effective version was the nuclear one which carried a nuclear warhead that detonated at depth taking out a submarine within a km for sure.
The conventional warhead version behaved like a standard torpedo.

I don't think so. It's the same angles and same location, but weather is a bit different. And Canister seems a bit longer, this could be a new variant of Tayfun with longer range.
