Bet the lads at DzKK is salivating at the chance of getting these toys to play with: View attachment 73170
Turkish navy did have these ASROC Anti Submarine Rocket Torpedoes. e g in Knox Class Frigates.
It had a 9km to 10 km range and had subsonic speed.
Later on it was developed in to RUM-139 version that is capable of being launched from a VLS and has a 1 Mach speed and 22km range.

Initial version has since been discontinued. It is a weapon circa Cold War era. Later iterations are still around.

The most effective version was the nuclear one which carried a nuclear warhead that detonated at depth taking out a submarine within a km for sure.
The conventional warhead version behaved like a standard torpedo.

Here is a picture of the part of ASROC launcher in Mersin Sea Museum :

I wonder if we give a munition menu when we sell a drone, with customers ordering as if they were in a restaurant. I don't think any other country has as many sub 100 kg missiles as we do.
It's a post that makes me wish there was no meme ban. :) Everything little little, into the middle...

Considering that this was not a one in a million lucky shot but a tremendous leap at Tayfun’s accuracy, can we start to think some kind of ballistic ship ‘killer’ missile concept like Chinese do Now?
Yes, those who follow this forum already know about Roketsan's antiship ballistic missile research. We discussed that in the past. Many things will be unveiled in a few years noone can hide something for too long.

Roketsan General Manager Murat İkinci had made the following statements in 2023:
TAYFUN is a deep strike weapon that can hit all elements that may pose a threat to our country. It has the precision to hit the target with pinpoint accuracy. TAYFUN’s development activities will continue uninterrupted.”

I guess he is a man of his words. As well as hitting the target at an extended range with pinpoint accuracy, Tayfun has been in serial production.

But more importantly the bold writing says it all. This probably is a ship killer missile.

At 650 km radius, from Datca peninsula, nothing can be safe East of the Adriatic Sea.

PS 650 km was taken as a possible range, since a NOTAM for 775 km was declared.

The good part is Tayfun is an affordable missile. It is cost-effective to deploy Tayfun against anti-ballistic missile systems and ships. It is a tactical missile that punches way above its weight with a 700+ km range. 1000km variant will be a strawberry on top of the cake.
