I wonder if 300er could be converted to a very long range Air to Air missile with an aesa radar seeker. Yes it's big and not very manourable. But it could easily shoot down big aircraft like enemy awacs, EW, tanker, cargo planes. Both US and China are developing 1000+km crazy long range Air to Air missiles so we need to give it a try.
Hitting a plane with a ballistic missile is straight up impossible. They simply don't have the maneuverability and accuracy needed for it. Even hitting ships like Tayfun-3 are pushing the limits of the technology


For very long range air-to-air ramjet or even a turbojet on a big missile makes much more sense

It may have to be streamlined. Also lose 90% of its explosive weight. Plus get better seekers, fins and TVC. Structurally it needs to be able to stand very high G turns. If launched from a plane at 40000+ ft altitude, it could reach hypersonic speeds. So it‘s range could be pretty impressive. But the more manoeuvres it does the less effective range it will have. To travel 500km it would need more than 7 minutes.

Most extra long range BVR a2a missiles are a form of a ballistic missile anyway. Their flight profile is such that they first go up high (80000 to 110000ft) then coast and then drop down on to target at high speed. But longer they have to go and more manoeuvers they have to do the more speed they will lose and consequently the less effective range they will have.

So it can be redeveloped in to one albeit with extensive alteration. But would it still be called trg300 ER? Definitely NOT.

For long range and throttle controllability RAMJET powered a2a missiles is a good choice. But not the only one. Check out JATM AIM260.

Turbojet can not effectively power an a2a. It is too expensive and not quick to accelerate and manoeuvre.

Mass production of HGK 84...

As I have said before, to have a limited quantity of these I can understand. But to mass produce these in big numbers is not very clever.
KGK version, yes! But HGK has a maximum range of 28km if released from 40000+ft altitude.
In order to release this bomb you need total air superiority. Otherwise against any modern AD your fighters will be target practice.

The time is for stand off munitions. We can not afford to put our pilots and planes in jeopardy .The KGK version has a range of 100km to 130km if released from fast jets, at 40000+m altitude. Even that is a range whereby the long range AD systems can target. But at least a fast jet can release a scoot away quickly.

My money is on TRG300-ER. With its 500km+ range and heavier explosive content than the standard trg300, plus a near hypersonic speed at midcourse it is the right choice for stand off surgical strikes. It may not have the 429kg of explosive weight of a MK84 bomb. But it should have at least more than half of that weight in explosives and will hit the target at supersonic speeds, especially if attacking it perpendicularly, carrying a lot more Kinetic Energy at impact than a glide bomb.

TAF made a decision to increase stocks/inventory of those weapons, as well as ballistic missiles. We are also selling those to various customers, such as Saudi Arabia. Some of the foreign purchase agreements are not openly declared. Finally, we need our serial production lines open and continue working.

Would only make sense if Anka 3 could carry them internally. I can only imagine that this mass production is in anticipation of a new anti-terror campaign once the peace process collapses. This round will probably be much more widespread and include city areas both within and in Iraq and Syria. With the advent of FPV drones, I don't think we can risk sending in troops directly like in prior campaigns. It would be evacuation of civilians followed by total destruction from the sky.

Otherwise, you're right, I can't see a use for these in any other scenario, they're an end game weapon.

I appreciate TAF’s decision to increase munition stocks. We must have a reasonable quantity of all types of munitions in ready to use stocks. But it has to be remembered that all munitions have a shelf life. Electronic circuits may corrode and/or explosive fillings would age. These will have to be maintained with periodic checks and refilling etc. So as well as initial production expenses there is an ongoing one.

I agree that a level of production has to be kept up to keep alive the manufacturing line. So exports is a good way to do that. However that does not detract from the fact that this is not a munition that is usable in cases whereby your pilots and planes are not put in harms way.

With the commissioning of MKE's investments, Turkiye will increase its current 155mm production capacity to 3,760,000 units per year.

MKE 1 million+ (2028 target)

Sinerji 1.2 million

ARCA 1.2 million

Assan 360 bin (Roketsan will continue this investment)

Hopefully with kale jet new engines we will be able to produce our own cheap deep strike missile similar to those offered by destinus

Kale jet engines needs to and will double it's production capacity next year to keep up with the signed contracts. They also have a lot interest for exports and want to create extra capacity for that
