Türkiye has transformed its guided-weapons sector, developing an increasingly capable portfolio of ballistic and cruise missiles driven by regional threats and broader defence-industrial ambitions.

less maybe around 500 depending on how much of that 1.6 billion is our part. Still don't know what diehl defence has to contribute?
I don't think diehl has anything to do with us. 1.6 billion dollar is total amount of NATO land strike procurement(including 155mm, Kara Atamca, barracuda-500 etc.). Our deal is with Roketsan, Diehl could be taking part in Co-production of other missiles or 155mm production unrelated to us

I'm not talking about todays NATO announcement. Turkish Land Forces will buy ~1000 Kara Atmaca cruise missiles in phases this is decided. I don't know How many of them are related to NATO.

I expect ~40 batteries with 3x launch vehicles.

Tayfun block 3 will enter Navy inventory this year. I wasn't expecting that at all, huge news.

Correct. It was certainly not the first test. IMHO, this was the last test of the prototype qualification. After this deliveries will start and a random serial production missile will be tested among the first delivered products. This is called an acceptance test.

I think the Navy should invest in this missile. We should put Tayfun block 3 on board Navy ships ASAP. Roketsan should do studies to see whether it is possible to integrate Tayfun Block 3 to Midlas VLS, or whether it is possible to replace some of the harpoon launchers on the deck. Tayfun 3 should also be a part of the Barbaros Coastal Defense System.

Quick question, how hard is it to launch this thing from a submarine?

If the Tayfun-B3 fits in the Atmaca footprint or come close we need it on our submarines too.
I envisioned something like some unmanned mini-subs that carry 4-6 of those but I honestly have no idea if it would be worth the trouble. Maybe on a USV it would make more sense. Just slap a launcher on top, the range is plenty enough.

I was thinking more like a canister launch that they have done with Atmaca. Mildens and Nukdens can probably have them built in.

Do our frigates enough free space for super sized SRBM and its launcher?

Does Türkiye really need such huge arsenal for ocean?

Also submarine launched ballistic missiles have totally different shape and structure.

On the other hand, Launch from submarines would be safer than warships. SRBM would just burn the deck. If Turkish navy procures SRBM, it doesn't mean, the navy will put on ships.

Please remember, Turkish Air Forces also uses ground air defense systems. Turkish Navy monitors naval threats, so its their duty to eliminate naval threats from ground.

If your submarines don’t have VLS with correct dimensions that can accommodate the missile, forget it.
If however, your submarines have the correct dimension VLSs, then you need to develop technologies like nuclear ballistic missile submarines use to launch ICBMs. That is not easy either. When those missiles are launched from under water, they don’t use capsules. But the gas propulsion system is such that it does not allow the missile and the VLS containers to get wet. When such large missiles are being launched from under water, due to weight shifting problems subs would encounter sub’s balance may be compromised. Thus this will have to be addressed to keep the sub stable. This is achieved by filling the tube instantly to not allow any instability issues.

Conventional Submarine Torpedo tubes are predominantly 533mm in diameter and 6.4m to 7.6m long. Missile plus capsule diameter and length have to be smaller to fit. Ballistic missiles are too big to fit in these tubes. But cruise missiles can be built to be launched from these tubes.

Typhoon Block 1 is 610mm in diameter and 6.5m in length. Add the capsule too; it is far too big to fit.

Block 3 is ~8m long
Block 4 is 10m long (~938mm in diameter)
They definitely won’t fit.

Excellent to see that it'll be in the inventory this year. I do hope that they're integrated into future vessels, perhaps a derivative of the TF-2000.

Whilst it's great to see such a destructive weapon enter the inventory, I'd also like the navy to have something else. We need ship-based SEAD/DEAD launcher that saturates enemy ships with cheap drones/missiles.

Perhaps our larger USVs can fill this role

Tayfun3 can be downsized/reshaped to be carried in a submarine. Some of its capabilities will change but you get closer to target with a submarine anyway.

The TRG 300 ER missile is the ideal long range stand off missile for our f16s today and tomorrow. It can approach hypersonic speeds during mid course and hits the target with supersonic speeds. The sooner this missile is integrated to our f16s the better. Kaan block 10s should carry up to 5 of these. With our seeker technology advances as proven on Tayfun-3, it is a no brainer to use these missiles to take out radar installations and high value assets of enemy in deep strikes without endangering our planes and pilots.

ROKETSAN 300 ER: Long-Range Precision Strike Capability

Developed by ROKETSAN, the 300 ER stands out as a long-range air-to-ground missile system designed to enhance the Turkish Air Force's deep-strike capabilities.

• Range: 500+ km
• Length: 5 m
• Weight: ~900 kg
• Platform: Fighter aircraft
• Role: Deep strike, precision destruction of strategic targets

Thanks to its extended range, the 300 ER enables engagement from outside the reach of air defense threats, thereby maximizing pilot and platform safety.

I also wouldn't mind seeing this under an Akıncı.

I wonder if 300er could be converted to a very long range Air to Air missile with an aesa radar seeker. Yes it's big and not very manourable. But it could easily shoot down big aircraft like enemy awacs, EW, tanker, cargo planes. Both US and China are developing 1000+km crazy long range Air to Air missiles so we need to give it a try.
