Turkey is the only Turkic nation with access to open water. Our only shot at becoming a domineering power!

Yet we have cowards here who are not only disregarding the opinions of our Admirals but also calling them TERRORISTS.

Big punishments are awaiting you, bloodless imbeciles.

Such a joke, LOL :ROFLMAO:
I know with which part of their body people like you laugh right now, just like the foreigners and your Georgian prophet currently.
You ruin the country with the same game every time and the sheeps keep clapping, ofcourse you laugh...

Waiting for those amirals and officers to be accused of being gulenists when many were prosecuted or evicted back then by gulenists.
they are mainly the victims of Ergenekon/Balyoz coordinated by FETO.
We don't need some outspoken ex-navy to tell us what is ours and what is not we have people on the job in active positions.
Ohh yes why not just because some guys on twitter telling so without any expertise in nothing?
But wait, these people are, as you have said, "ex admirals" they are not in active duty, they neither have ability to do anything as claimed to intend to do a coup as claimed by government.
This is contradictory, as citizen of this country, putting their lives at risk for the country more than twitter troll army, they have more right to speak out. But wait, are you implying we can't freely express our thoughts in this country? Then:

You will either accept we are not living in a democratic country and the regime is a totalitarian,
And these people are ex-admirals without any power and officials are being Karens and yelling " this is coup"

Or we are living in a democratic country, which everybody has right to speak out their ideas.

I just can't believe this bullshit, just can't understand this retarded move. Turkey is just turned into a sub-saharan or middle eastern democracy. I have read that declaration, nothing is wrong why just not respect people's freedom of speech, this is just a dictatorship style arrest nothing less. Not the declaration but the arrest is just a discussing coup against democracy. You owe those people a lot of respect for their valued contributions to your National Security.. Fcking Feto already try to destroy these patriots and now AKP.. so called junta.. retired admirals what a funny story is this... What happened to Mavi Vatan then?

You know what Cem Gurdeniz was implied that Mustafa Akıncı in TRNC is a traitor and should be removed by force.. Now he is facing with his own devils.. Akıncı was just seeing how Turkish Democracy and Government is going wrong way.. Freedom of Speech and Democracy is the only way to walk, nothing else. Expressing opinions, declarations etc cannot be a crime. Nobody armed up against state here.. There are more dangerous people in Turkey than these Admirals.

I'm reading in Greek media that the civilians arrested are accused of promoting a military coup? o_O

Not just that... the “Coup” apparently will be made by the Naval Forces... lead by retired Navy members... against the Government in Ankara... which is 300km away from the closest sea. 😁

The declaration is FULL of wrongs and deeply misjudged facts but the government is grossly exaggerating this 'declaration'.

However, I'd like to know what the purpose of this declaration at this point is. What was the objective?

May be wrong here, but the crux of the matter was that they don't want Turkey to unilaterally abandon the Montreaux Treaty.
So it is the other way around. One of the justifications for building the Canal is that "Turkey can force the naval traffic there, after changing the legal status of the straits"

So it is the other way around. One of the justifications of building the Canal is that Turkey can send the naval traffic there, VIA changing the legal status of the straits!

Kanal Istanbul would circumvent Montreux Treaty.

Exactly, that is what I wrote. So, they are against Turkey abandoning the treaty.
That is actually what they wrote in their declaration too.

The canal is purely incidental. If Turkey could build and fully utilize it without abandoning the treaty, the admirals would have zero problems with it!

If Turkey could build and fully utilize it without abandoning the treaty, the admirals would have zero problems with it! Their problem is with touching the treaty, not the canal itself.

At least, this is frankly what I get from reading the declaration in the first post.

Those "oldtimers" are the reason why you guys praise yourself for Mavi Vatan, MILGEM projects, Turkish EEZ 🤣

Erdogan has been good at making many enemies, and making all of them at the same time. Yet Syria remains a complete mess, unresolved and no plan on the horizon.

The political islamist has been a devil in disguise for Turkey, the sooner this demon is vanquished the better.

Problems in Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Libya, the Gulf, the east med, Israel, etc etc nothing completely resolved, but its time for more problems to be thrown on top so they can hide from all the other problems they created.

Sprinkle in 10 million or so refugees and bobs your uncle. Not to mention the absolute shambles of an economy they created.

Btw, don't mistake DefenceHub as an actual representation of the Turkish public opinion. This is not the case.

All opposition parties - including parts of CHP - are criticizing the former admirals for distracting the public agenda with this unnecessary statement.

The Turkish public (conservatives, liberals, leftists) are strongly against any kind of intervention from the military.

They helped Erdoğan to secure support for the Kanal İstanbul project rather than stopping him. This is why people asking themselves what the purpose of this declaration was.
