The Vympel Shipyard has launched the Project 20360M armament support ship "Gennady Dmitriyev" for the Russian Navy.

“The Navy’s main command is planning to launch serial production of Project 20360M armament support ships. The use of the lead ship Gennady Dmitriyev will make it possible to upgrade and improve future ships of the type. The Navy needs such ships as they can operate on the high seas and in the ocean, including in the Arctic zone, being ice-class vessels,”

Project 20360M armament support ships are being built on order of the Russian Defense Ministry. They were designed by the Vympel Design Bureau.
The Gennady Dmitriyev was laid down by the Vympel Shipyard in Rybinsk in central Russia in May 2017 followed by the Vladimir Pyalov ship that was laid down in March 2018. There were plans to deliver the two ships to the Navy in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
