Istanbul Frigate (F-515) has been floated to the pier, from the drydock in Istanbul Shipyard Command (Pendik Naval Shipyard) after installation of shafts (and associated parts), propeller and possibly some parts of the propulsion system.

Fitting out will continue at the pier, she will visit dock once more for installation of the sonar and rest of the propulsion system.

280, PNS Babur soon will be towed into the drydock to commence installation of the propulsion system.
Niceee. Will all the pns babur be heavy corvettes around 3 000 tons? I-class frigate will be 3 000 tons aswell so whats the difference? Iknow that the babur is based on ada class, but will psn use chinese weapons onboard or different electronics?

Yes all Babur Class is close to 3000 tonnes (2980~).
Most of the sensors are common, but Babur has a different ESM module (likely a customized ARES-2N).

It has Gokdeniz, Albatros-NG, STOP RCWS differently from Ada Class which has RAM and Stamp.

And there are additional link and communication terminals.

In the latest configuration it didnt have any Chinese subsystems.

The 5th submarine of the Reis Class, Seydi Ali Reis has received it’s brain. Havelsan has delivered the Command & Control System for this sub. That makes 5 of them all have got their command and control units.
Another launching of these subs is going to be due soon.

The first MKE 20mm CIWS will be delivered this year.
Without separate gun laying radar it would be worse than Phalanx due to accuracy, worse than Gökdeniz due to range and smart bullets, worse than Sea Zenith due to calibre. What are they smoking?

Hope I am wrong… maybe Aselsan can develop a radar to follow bullets. If it’s not a forced decision and done for test/development/support I am OK.

note: we need cheap domestic CIWS/missiles to fit all of our vessels. In that context it is good to have many options.

The original source tells that it will go through qualification of the final prototype in 2022 and expected to be delivered by the end of the 2022.

The gun system we have seen, so far, was not the final prototype but the gun system itself, MKE works with a contractor for the rest (including integration to the CMS and autonomous target acquisition and classification). It is pointless to call it CIWS if it lacks its own tracking radar at least. Also one more fact, TN doesn't want to operate a CIWS which doesn't have autonomous architecture.

Nice… by the way I’m a complete outsider so I guess developing 76mm cannon and 20mm was not MKEK’s decision but state or navy decided to replace some components 1 to 1 because of US/Italian dependency. Still I prefer Gökdeniz+missiles over this for navy vessels, or 2x 3x future MKEK gatling CIWS if it is cheaper+ some smart AA round for higher calibres (40, 76, 127mm)…

Navy has designed the architecture of Gokdeniz, they have set the requirement, requested modifications, tested it, funded iterations of the product. So yes, they like it.

But since gatling gun based systems are like the staple food, it is hard to give up from those.

And MKE's 76mm will definitely have smart fused munitions, as well as other munitions with their kind of proximity fuse to engage threats. Navy has set the path for these years ago, was meant to be come alive when the time is right but embargoes have accelerated these.

Pakistan Milgem seems to be standing higher than Heybeliada as it is still empty.
Pakistani Ship Babur, is actually longer than our Milgems. It is over 108 metres in length. Milgem is 99.5 metres.
As it is empty and still needs equipment to be fitted it is normal to stand up higher.

Which weapons will it have apart from Atmaca? Which radar or other type of electronics will it use?
  • ADVENT CMS
  • 21 x CIWS missile
  • 2 x Stamp / Stop
  • X-band AESA MFR (the mast supports up to Cenk-S AESA MFR)
  • Compact ESM (ARES-2NCL Extended expected)
  • Compact EA / ED (Aselsan has debut this in IDEF)
  • Akrep FCR
  • AKR Block-A
  • 1x (or 2x) Denizgözü Ahtapot E/O - IRST

It may also be equipped with torpedo launchers (2 unit on each side) when needed.
