ASW USV in the Aegan Sea... Swarming Targets and neutralizing them. Can’t imagine a bigger nightmare for a certain neighbor that thinks it can poke the wrong bear and get away with it.

We need C&C ships/Motherships. The Brits are doing the same with the T32 ships. Those are warships, I think the same can be done with cheap hulls with minimal protection. Specifically made for the Aegan.

For those interested in the Type 32 of the RN:

I think most of the ships are either upgraded or already built with decent comms, so each of them can be used as C&C. I wonder about a mothership design too, but probably we wouldn't need that to protect our waters (which is the primary aim), rather needed when deployed at the sea far from the shore.

That's some serious next gen. naval warfare scenario, Ada/I-class act as mothership and guide USV/UAV's armed with MAShM, lightweight torpedoes to enemy targets.

It's not only a force multiplier but also extended line of defense for our warships.

ASW USV was seen with a towed sonar (probably variable depth), the range would be limited yes but an USV can be set to patrol in a limited area while the manned ships taking care of other roles, the ships are not alone too, there is MPA, and UAVs. USVs can be used to pinpoint the threat for an effective counter.
If LWT was needed on YTKB i think it would be integrated already. It is better to wait to see what will happen to YTKB fleet when an upgrade is needed.

Advanced Buoys in our EEZ in a broad network to relay data creating a web of search, surveillance & hunt network with several smart small sea mines would be a nightmare. Posing a threat to any vessel of your choosing as soon as they enter our EEZ would be something they’d have to be on guard for.

With UAV in the setup with ulwt and possibly with some island reclamation project we could create a solid wall of arrays to W E S

what kinds of planes will operate this carrier after the f35 crisis with the usa ? except the herlicopters of course and uavs
By introducing a proper aircraft carrier in the medium term.
Also there are views that the light attack fighter project Hürjet can be altered to operate from this class of LHD.

US Aircraft carriers are equipped with multiple RAM, multiple Phalanx + quad-packed ESSM yet they still "rely on" escort destroyers and frigates for a wide area defense.
The ship has sufficient protection for self defense, with an additional spot for VL point-defense (AA) missiles in the future. For the long range protection it will rely on TF-2000 (64 VLS+ Long range AESA radar) and medium range I-Class frigate (16 VLS - 64 ESSM + Smart-S II).
I've read about the tf-2000 looks more AAW destroyer than frigate to me
what is the expected date to release the first TF-2000 ?

What does Algerian corvette have to do with Turkish Navy?
Algerian corvette is made in China , has chinese CIWS and SAMs but all those work with SMART-S mk2 radar!!.
it means Turkish Gökdeniz Ciws , G40, Siper can be integrated with Smart-s.
So we might see ADA class corvettes with G40s. It's technically possible.

STM and SSB signed a contract for the new “Turkish Style Fast Attack Boat” project.
There should be 4 ships and a further 6 on option to be produced.
Fac55 is the boat chosen with it’s 55 knot max speed. More indigenous equipment will be used and these boats will be the most maneuverable boats in its class.
The development work project, let us hope will be finished fairly quickly!

Excellent, I guess we can all agree that this ship was all our favourites except @UkroTurk who prefers a outgunned NTPB (YTKB) :p

You sacrificed 16 YTKBs over FACs due-to 55 knot speed. Poor YTKBs :p

Do FACs really need SMART-S with big radar signature? FAC are supposed to be hidden so enemies can detect their location. MAR-D would suit them, it has more capabilities.

i also always thought about it... but, if you watch chinese unmanned ships, they even got air deffence missiles.. seems like Turkey also plan to put it on them..
as they would be fast and maneuvering, they will not need big sonar and other anti submarine systems, i think this will make the main difference between them and Ada class ships..

16 YTKB, as the name suggests is actually a literal waters shore patrol ship. It has anti submarine warfare capability. It is not an attack boat. You need a very fast agile attack vessel in the Aegean. YTKB will never fill in those shoes.
But that does not mean YTKB can not be made more deadly. MRAShM will be a perfect match for these boats. Sungur can be incorporated to give it a bit more bite.

Do you guys think the new unmanned water vehicle family will get purchases from the Navy? In what formation, configuration and fleet you guys see it operating and in which roles. I am asking because I am not very deep into naval warfare so I try to visualize how it will work in different scenarios together with our other manned ships.

Okay if YTKBs are for ASW, here comes my new crazy idea. Putting on them towed sonar and torbedo tube with ORKOs.

In an analogical way we can consider the same approach as it was for aerial drones,
Anything not fulfilling a vessel's role but enhancing its capabilities without risking personnel will be appreciated by Navy, which points to for
first phase:
-elint-comint USV, without any weapons
-ASW USV, purely with sensors or + depth chargers
-Fast interceptor with short range arms - mainly for shore protection and anti-piracy, laser pointer for anti-symmetrical threats

second phase:
-ASuW USV (with anti-ship missiles), mainly for fleet protection-shore protection
-Fast interceptor with heavy arms (NLOS ,long range missiles etc)
-ASW USV equipped with torpedo

last phase:
Fully fledged missile-sensor carrier, like a FAC- Corvette.

We may see Coast guard being interested in SR - Fire fighting versions.

I am sure the first phase would be acquired as soon as being leased, the second phase will take time. And both of these batches will be small <20 meters platforms with rear attached engines.

What to do with a sonar on shallow waters? Even a commercial sonar is sufficient in shallow waters which YTKB is defined to work in.
I expect these ships to be relocated as ASW Corvettes after USVs are being acquired for near-shore shallow water ASW role.

if Turkey able to put Anti ship missiles on it, which we heard that there were some pictures with it, then its going to be a crazy project as it was presented... imagine, you send them deep into sending several anti ship missiles to attacking frigate which far from your reach(250+km which Atmaca able to reach), without even risking you ship... it can go 400km away without getting detected for its composite body(not detected with metal detecting radars), electric motor(not detected from thermal camera), small body will also make it to hide from radars with composite and hiding behind waves, shoot several anti ship missiles, and come back... you can even do silent operation, such as lets say Turkey wants to destroy UAE oil or gas installations.. nobody will be able to prove that you did it... i believe Turkey used it several times and like it..
As we saw, as soon as Saudis made embargo on Turkish products, almost every second day new Saudi ship was hit with missiles and all of the missiles specifically shoot areas not to kill anybody.. i, to be honest think Turkey had its hand there, and immediately after that Saudis stopped embargo and all the attacks stopped. especially, after incident with Germany and Greece, for landing on Turkish ship, just 2 days after, Greek ship was shot. this also showed Turkey was behind. Turkey can use them to send from SOmali, shoot and come back silent ;) Turkey loves being undetected, unlike Iran, i think we enjoy more when nobody knows that we did it, except ourself.. ;)

Thank you for your and @anmdt responses. I will refrain from comment on the conspiracy theory on that stage and I may not agree with everything you wrote but I would say that the Turkish Navy's level of secrecy when it comes to strategic projects is known.

I do visualize them all scattered around equipped with sensors and EW equipment doing a recon alone and other ones equipped with anti-ship missiles waiting and hiding behind rocks, sharing information trough SATCOM to a network with the command center and the manned fleets, some used as a baits in effort to take the concentration away from the manned fleets posing real danger to the enemy ships. I also visualize them as low profile FAC hunters and also escort and support elements for SAT teams. I hope I am not far away from reality.
