This development will bring many other important news as well. Within 36 months, each of 3 shipyards will produce 1 I class frigate simultaneously and the cradle of military shipyard will be empty. This means that preparations for Tf2000 will begin... @Anmdt

It has already begun, they are conducting towing tank and cavitation tunnel experiment for propeller and hull design.

Mr Demir:

"Within the scope of the project, each of Anadolu, Sedef and Sefine shipyards, is planned to construct an I-class frigate simultaneously.

The three ships are scheduled to be delivered in 36 months. TCG Istanbul, the first of the I-class frigates, has a local rate of %75. However, around 80 local subcontractors are involved in the project. The total number of companies working on the project is about 200."
Steel cutting is expected in May, July, September but could be a month earlier.

The ceremonial steel cutting is scheduled for April 23 for all of the three hulls, but again, not guaranteed. Could be earlier.

This is why i have waited till 21st. He supposed to say these yesterday.

April will be lovely for Navy guys;

Steel cutting of I-Class
Steel cutting of TF2000 (merely ceremonical, has nothing to do with the actual progress of construction)
Milden test section production, steel cutting - welding with locally made high yield steel
Istanbul commences sea trials with full equipments.

Anything about propellers and shaft bro? Fixed/Variable Pitch? Recently, there has been studies on the national propeller design. Can these local studies reach TF2000?

It doesn't seem like it will be, there was a company called Milper but more turned out to be a hoax. At least, for the propeller SSB may launch an R&D project but for the shaft, bearings etc. it seems hard.

But the best, both SSB and TN learnt the lesson well, now they prepare anything as near as to be swappable if embargoes take place. Such as; engines.

+ TAIS is now permitted to market I-Class for export. In cooperation with STM, TAIS will offer customized versions of I-Class to the customers or produce hulls for them.
Earlier they had troubles offering their own designs (unproven) and ASFAT wasn't agile enough to govern an export like STM. Financially sound private companies like TAIS members have got a strong hand to find credits to ease export. Their revenues and image are good at the international market.

Is this the final design or will be there still changes?
95% it is final, there will be changes-additions in some systems or little adjustments in placing of the weapons but not sure if they will show the prior anytime soon.
Changes are mostly about EW suite, Comms etc.

Technically yes, the mast of I-class is wide enough to accomodate CFR (X-band MFR module) of CAFRAD.

But that would require another spot for CENK-S. That would either require a whole new mast design to carry body CFR and CENK-S or an additional mast near midbody for CENK-S.

@Anmdt

Don't know if it counts since it is rather an R&D and technology gain project.

DATUM - ITU NOVA (SSB project)

  • Multi purpose midget submarine technology demonstrator (under construction)

This timeline doesn't include harbor and seakeeping trials, right? If it does, that is fast as hell, kudos to those dockyards.

And a question about Istif class frigates to those with more knowledge than me, is there an approximate figure about how much each ship costs?
