"4 Ada-class Corvettes in Inventory (to be overhauled in the near future for air defense capability)"

Akbaba mentions Ada Class corvettes are to be retrofitted(?) with a new air defence system. Any ideas on what it is?
I have been telling for few years and it is nothing new. Scheduled for 2025, 'overhaul' is a wrong term there. I will rather call it an MLU.
Also see Ukranian Milgem for AD integration.

The the first goal is to integrate Goksur/Levent, and replace the RAM.

We should invest heavily in Ada class ships. They are beautiful and capable vessels.

We should add 8x MIDLAS VLS, Hisar/Siper guidance datalink, replace RAM with Levent or Gökdeniz CIWS, replace generators with bigger ones, and replace SMART-S with Cenk-S also add a new EW system. STIR FCR should be replaced by Akrep FCR. Genesis CMS should be upgraded to Genesis Advent level. Düfas towed sonar should also be added. UAV, USV control console and datalinks should also be added.

Just a question . With Adding a module and lengthen to Ada class at MLU is possible ? If possible we can add 16 or 32 cell Midlas .

What are we going to do with RAM systems which cost millions of dollars? They haven't finished economical life, have they?

If i were asked i wouldn't touch current RAM launcher, i would just add 2 Bozdoğan launcher and 4 AESA plates .

I don't know if it were feasible or practical.

Remove ram from 2 ADA and put the indigenous alternative if ready or gökdeniz, then the other 2 can have more missile reserves.

Then half of Ada Class would be outdated 🥺 The problem is not just missiles , newgen AESA radars should be used.... They urge UMTAS rather than Bozdoğan.

There a was photo in old forum: " mevcut gemilerde hava sistemleri çalışması" from Turkish Navy or SSB. I remember there was an example: land Hisar A or O launcher was in front of ship .

İmagine two X Hisar launcher 45degree vertically standing. Launching gas and flames go to the sea . Geminin önünde. Standing like Harpoon launchers which don't harm the warship. You could even put in Hisar without booster. 45degree VLS.

İmagine in the tubes were Siper B0 or Hisar RF.

For you all guys; looks like we have missed something out there. Aselsan has signed a contract for CIWS with SSB, just a week ago. However check this;
- I - Class (Milgem 6 - 8) was already a done deal, contract signed as a whole package and orders are placed
- I - Class (Milgem 9 - 12) will be signed later, again as a whole package with other sensors and weapon systems.
- Barbaros MLU was signed as a whole package thus orders are placed.
- Subsystems for PN Milgem are not ordered by SSB
- Subsystems for OPV are not ordered by SSB but ASFAT.

Then what the hell are these orders for? Way too much to be 2 Gokdeniz (orders are also placed for this as the contract signed as whole for all components supplied by Aselsan, a year ago) for Ukranian Milgem.

That should be cost of minimum 6 Gokdeniz or the upgrade pack for Ada-Class.! ~ 20 million upgrade per hull for 'CIWS'.

According to the contract the systems will be delivered between 2024 and 2027, do you expect Ada-class modernization/upgrade that early?

In the basis Ada class is a asw ship right ? A asw ship without towed sonar, 2 asw helicopter and asroc or milas kind anti-submarine ammo.

So

More than air defence missiles ada class needs a towed sonar, asroc kind ammo in the mlu .

or

İf we are think establish a new concept who consist anti submarine warfare with big capable ships, Ada class can be convert a great general propose ships for fleet.

Without those Sonars, or VLS, I've always regarded Ada to be a good OPV design. Which is why they Hisars being built are of Ada class design. but it does sound strange that SSB would order those without already allocating which vessels they're going to be placed upon.

To me it seems like they're building/ordering these things to have them in hand, ready. But with the problems going on I would expect the necessary subsystems to be ordered as soon as the Hisars are nearing completion. I just don't get the idea of ordering things step by step when everyone knows that you save on cost when you order the whole thing.

There were two (with a very loosely tied third) possibilities;
  1. Hisar-D (Sapan) contract for first 4 I-Classes with spare missiles, refering to Aselsan's share.
  2. Ada Class upgrade
  3. Much lesslikely and i have ignored this: a G2G order secured by SSB, for Gokdeniz.
Here are the reasons for each of them;
  • 1: The main contractor would be Roketsan, Sapan is also referred to as CIWS (PDMS) by the Navy, but it is a Roketsan product. It wouldn't have been called a CIWS by Aselsan.
  • 2: The price is reasonable for 4 x Goksur and x 12~ (could be more, not sure of Bozdoğan's price but shouldn't be less than $1m) missiles per launcher (with the test units). But without AESA radars initially, which are likely to be installed later.
  • 3: We wouldn't have heard this way and doesn't match any possible future orders available to the public.
2024 is also a reasonable delivery date for the first Goksur, as it would be installed and installed, then tested in 2025 and the rest would be installed in 2025-26-27, 1 year per ship. The last ship will return to service in 2028 after trials with the new systems.

Is it possible to see VLS of OPV in Ada's upgrade?
Is it possible to see additional AESA radar on the Ada class?

Ada Class has a great main sonar. The ship has also great ASW munitions.
Regarding towed sonar, Ada Class could carry unmanned submarine or surface vessel. So the ship has everything for ASW as a Corvette.

The first need of Ada Class is AESA radar. BTW AESA radar could detect periscope of submarine from 30km!

In the Ada class (and related designs), the location you have highlighted is used by a piece of equipment (I will not go into detail as it is pointless in the context of this forum) that is integral to the gas turbine. The Hisar class does not have a gas turbine, hence the area remains unused.

In Ada-Class, the spot you have highlighted is occupied by a component (not going into details as it is pointless for the forum's context), which is essential for the gas turbine. Hisar Class does not have a Gas turbine, thus the spot is empty.
Okay then tell us :) Ada Class will be upgraded with new air defense system? Which system?

Great Main Sonar ? I wish, I wish. But it's the first sonar experience of us and we are doesnt use him on i class frigate so i class have more better asw capability in the basis
