Interesting news. Per MSB, Gabya Class TCG Gaziantep's 76mm OTO Melara Super Compact gun's worn out barrel was replaced with a MKE built 76mm gun barrel. Gabya Class frigates have the Mk-75 gun, which is a license built version made in the US. Thanks to Leonardo's decisions at the time and SSB, it looks like the dependency on Italian support for 76mm guns is now fully over. I believe this is the first time a MKE built 76mm gun being integrated on an existing ship. I do wonder if MKE plans to work on upgrading the 76mm gun to bring it to current capabilities Leonardo have with Sovraponte.

I think we shouldn't even make a carrier yet till we got a sensible numbers of modern frigates and destroyers this is my take on the subject.

We already got a empty TCG anadolu we wouldn't want a second disaster like this.

@Anmdt also did they upped the numbers on I class or they still want 4 of those?

They have already cut the steel for MILGEM 9th and 10th ships.

So it has gone past the decision stage.

Tbh I feel our government is being quiet on what's going on in E.med.

A smart government would keep some ppl in the loop that can reach out to the masses.

It's difficult to know if the vessels being made will be exported or used for ourselves.

I feel that TCG needs more and some bigger vessels to assume some OPV duty

Some technical details; similar ships get steel cut process happening altogether to save up residual steel and make effective use of the CNC platform. So 10th milgem may have some sub-blocks manufactured somewhere in the shipyard. Steel cut is merely ceremonial to mark a stage. It is not referring to an actual steel cutting to start after one ship's ends.

In some cases we have these lovely ceremonial steel cuts coming after the real process had begun months ago.

Names for the next 4 Istif class ships currently in production finally revealed.

F-519 TCG AKDENİZ
F-520 TCG KARADENİZ
F-521 TCG EGE
F-522 TCG MARMARA

They will be named after the 4 seas of Turkey: Mediterranean, Black Sea, Aegean and Marmara. This is also in line with tradition. Previous ex-Knox Muavenet Class frigates had these names, I believe save for Marmara, which might be a first.

I am somewhat happy that names with greater importance, like Zafer, Muavenet and Tepe family are being kept for TF-2000.

These should be spared for TF-2000s in my opinion, would be better.. like TCG Anadolu, Trakya etc. Ege Akdeniz Karadeniz, each could have defended the airspace of the sea corresponding to their names.

...actually, that sounds good, but in the case of a battle, wouldn't it be a little confusing to use those names at all, with the same name of the sea or any of the seas by placing them on?
I guess their numbers are what matters?
