Names for the next 4 Istif class ships currently in production finally revealed.

F-519 TCG AKDENİZ
F-520 TCG KARADENİZ
F-521 TCG EGE
F-522 TCG MARMARA

They will be named after the 4 seas of Turkey: Mediterranean, Black Sea, Aegean and Marmara. This is also in line with tradition. Previous ex-Knox Muavenet Class frigates had these names, I believe save for Marmara, which might be a first.

I am somewhat happy that names with greater importance, like Zafer, Muavenet and Tepe family are being kept for TF-2000.

I am somewhat happy that names with greater importance, like Zafer, Muavenet and Tepe family are being kept for TF-2000.

These should be spared for TF-2000s in my opinion, would be better.. like TCG Anadolu, Trakya etc. Ege Akdeniz Karadeniz, each could have defended the airspace of the sea corresponding to their names.

...actually, that sounds good, but in the case of a battle, wouldn't it be a little confusing to use those names at all, with the same name of the sea or any of the seas by placing them on?
I guess their numbers are what matters?

Now that there's talks of a new light utility aircraft for gendarme and army needs, I think we should also talk about the need to increase the number of MPA aircraft we have and modify the remaining 3 C72s ourselves in a similar fashion to P72s we operate. We should be able to build and integrate many of the subsystems on the P72s. We can get 3 or more utility cargo aircraft for the navy in the same program.

That opens another can of worms though. Why showcase the twin launcher as standard? We'll probably see it on Istanbul soon and know for certain.

The firing test of the “Encapsulated ATMACA”, the submarine-launched version of the Roketsan ATMACA Anti-Ship Missile, was successfully carried out from the TCG PREVEZE Submarine!

The Encapsulated ATMACA Missile, launched from the torpedo tube, successfully surfaced during the test and gained altitude with its first stage solid fuel engine!

Thus, Türkiye will be one of the few countries that have achieved the capability to launch anti-ship missiles from submarines.

It is assessed that this capability will gain a different dimension in the medium term with the integration of cruise missiles currently under development into the capsule and submarine vertical launch system.”

If noticed, the capsule has a form of thrust as it leaves the submarine. As per previously mentioned, this is probably because the capsule is supposed to travel some distance -around 1000m- then surface and atmaca will fire the booster engine.
This will hide the exact position of the sub.

This is a big, game changer capability. Well done to Roketsan and to all those who had a hand in it.

I hope they don’t take ages to get these in quantity to be included in our inventory.

Turkey already had this capability for at least 2 decades, we are a sub-Harpoon user as well. US, Korea, Egypt, UK, Greece are the ones I remember from my head, they all have UGM-84s.

What I meant was using land attack version from a submarine with this capsule to strike a target on land. With Atmaca's 400+ km range and this one concealing the location of submarine (or rather not revealing it), it'll be as deadly as it comes when it comes to strikes from a submarine.
