Lockheed Martin Canada has just generated (20 Sept 2021) another CG Graphics of the CSC Frigate that seem to have some changes to them For example, the radar mast seems to be much higher, along with the Satcom antennas being moved from midships either side of the CAAM missiles to just abaft the bridge and seem to be a bit smaller. The 32 VLS canisters that were just aft of the gun now seem to have only 24 canisters. And there is a small canister just abaft of the boat bay on the starboard side that doesn't look anything like a lifeboat. My thoughts would be that the Satcom antennas were moved to make room for more MK 41 VLS Cannisters on either side of the CAMM launchers, the mast was changed to give better ranges for the SPY 7 radar, and the X Band radar from MDA seems to be just a bit larger, possibly for the Thales Sea Fire 500 X Band Illumination radar? Could the "object" just above and abaft of the boat bay be for a DEW Laser system (port/stb'd) (possibly the Dragon Fire system soon to be fitted on the BAE Type 26 British Frigate)? Who knows? The Canadian government certainly isn't talking. Any thoughts from forum members?

Looks barrel shaped. Most likely the Dragon Fire DEWS as you said. I was thinking it could be an EW system, but I'm guessing it would make more sense to just install EW systems on the radar mast.

It doesn't make sense to have a DEW in there, h out, inreachable thus challenging to maintain at sea, exposed to waves, hanging while there is a convenient space on top deck right on the foreside and starboard of the exhaust.
Also the foundation doesn't seem to belong a gun, but a simple frame like used in liferafts or could be a floating decoy.

You are probably right Anmdt, but whatever is there, it is certainly not any kind of life raft or EW " gear ". The DEW laser (if Canada does acquire the Dragon Fly) could probably go where the Satcom antennas were midships on either side of the CAAM launchers.;)

"Yes they went with 24 canisters vice 32".

Do you have a quote or substantiation for that Ted?
I sure do, I have a graphic available with the ship and all the combat systems and where they are located. For instance the 30mm is the Marlin WS.

Ted, are you willing to share those CSC Frigate graphics , all combat systems with locations with the rest of the forum members? That would be nice to have or see.

It would be best then if you'd just leave everyone in the dark, if you can't (or won't) substantiate what you say, then it would be best to leave it alone.:((n)

I don't have to substantiate anything, the RCN will at some point choose to post more details but rest assured we now have 24 VLS vice 32 as a weight saving measure. The graphics from LM show this. You yourself said "Any thoughts from forum members", well those are my thoughts.

The information that most forum members have is that there would be 32 MK VLS 41 cells forward. If you have more accurate information please feel free to divulge that with all members. Perhaps the other 8 VLS cells will be fitted amidships where the Satcom antennas were for better weight distribution?

New Overhead view of the CSC, note the 24 VLS and 24 CAMM
View attachment 34576
I've seen that CGI graphic before but still can't explain the two small cylinder objects Port/Stb'd just past amidships. As I said before, they certainly aren't Life Rafts and nothing EW like. As I said before IMO they "could" be a DEW laser system (Dragon Fly). I don't suppose you can help out on this one Ted? I take it that you are somehow involved with the CSC project either with LM, Irving Shipyard or the Government. Right?

People need to not take too much stock in renderings, or possible placeholders. Its not a laser system.

On the evidence, the forum has nothing else to go on but "renderings" as you say. These CGI graphics of LMS CSC frigate design, are just that and nothing else. For all we know the MK 41 VLS canisters could be back to 32 and not 24. Nobody really knows, and by the way Ted, you did not indicate who your masters are or is that a secret as well?

Could be they're not and yes people in the "know", know exactly what's going into the ship. Its amazing that when a person has a lack of information they will make up all kinds of speculative things. You have to see the accommodation areas of the CSC, nice bunks, USB plug ins, WiFi. Sailors will be amazed, excellent retention. right there.

Just got all the information I needed to "know" Ted from a very good friend of mine I "know" who is still "current". Yes, the sailor accommodations are excellent and will make the crews of other allied ships very envious. The secrecy that goes on though is very puzzling. I have promised my "friend" not to reveal anything until after the CSC design phase is completed which should be soon. Thanks for all your efforts though Ted!:sneaky:(y)

Really?, the briefing I was at said the design phase is a significant time away from moving to the next phase of the project as there are several issues being solved. Certainly not "soon". One is weight as we saw the 32 VLS drop to 24 which is obvious and that was confirmed by LM staff at DEFSEC. I don't think its a matter of secrecy but one of need to know and the public will know when the government wants those details released. Most of the incoming fire is coming from armchair admirals who worry about the positioning of arrays and minor details and seem genuinely miffed when the government didn't inform them . Plenty of information out there to satisfy the public in my opinion, do we need to start posting plans? and meeting minutes? All civilians need to know is the design process is continuing IAW the officially posted timelines. I know stuff because I'm at meetings that these things come up. I hope your "friend" didn't tell you things that you as a civilian shouldn't be knowing.....:cautious:
