No EU funds for future pipelines will make the Southern Cypriots discoveries less feasible or at least but another nail in the coffin of their planned pipeline.

New finds including the recent Turkish Black Sea discoveries will further bring down the gas prices in international market that East Med finds become less and less valuable. There is no chance that the EastMed gas can be pipelined to Europe due to excessive cost. They should probably try to sell electric instead. Even Turkey can buy electric from time to time now that we are buying nuclear electric from Russia. If the world goes back to the way it was before pandemic that is.

I do not think Turkey or the government is going to reveal anything until everything is mapped.
In a way this is quite good. Map it all! Find out if it is worth fighting for; and then put it on bargaining table if it is not worth it against areas that contain potential reserves.

780 million lira to be invested in production and transmission infrastructure in Sakarya Gas Field

780 million lira will be invested in the production and transmission infrastructure for the use of natural gas discovered in the Sakarya Gas Field in the Black Sea.

Turkey Petroleum Corporation of (TAPO) Sakarya Gas Field Subsea Production Plant, according to information compiled from the prepared EIA application file for Submarine Transmission Lines and Land Natural Gas Processing Plant Integrated Project, the project will consist of three separate sections.

In this context, integrated project in the first part of the submarine natural gas production facilities in Turkey Exclusive Economic Zone, in the second portion of land natural gas processing plants will be installed at Filyos Industrial Zone. Natural gas transmission lines, which form the third part that will connect both units, will be built on land and sea.

780 million lira will be invested for the project, which consists of three parts.

The gas block, where the submarine production facility is located, will be established at a depth of approximately 2 thousand 200 meters from the sea and 155 kilometers from the Filyos Industrial Zone. This system will combine 30-40 production wells in an area of 2 thousand 173 kilometers and transfer the gas to the pipeline and will operate as a network established on the seabed.

During the operation, production will be carried out with remotely controlled systems and no facility will be built in the sea.

40 million cubic meters of gas will be transported and processed daily

At the Sakarya Gas Field, 6 to 10 wells will be connected to the submarine production system in the first place. 10 million cubic meters of gas will be produced daily from these wells and will be sent to the gas processing plant in Filyos through the pipeline built. Natural gas will be processed here and brought into line with the standards of Pipelines and Petrol Transportation Inc. (BOTAŞ).

In the second stage, 40 million cubic meters of natural gas produced from 30-40 wells in total will be transported and processed per day.

for the area on the land side of the project by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of Turkey Petroleum Joint Stock will be entitled to a 49-year easement to the property. The machinery and equipment in the planned facility can be renewed as they wear out and the life of the facility can be extended.

The offshore pipeline and related systems to be built on the sea side of the project will be designed for an operating life of 40 years. The main equipment will have a design life of 25 years, according to the supplier's recommended maintenance procedures and intervals.

The first natural gas from the Sakarya Gas Field will be used in 2023, but the full commissioning of the field will take place after 2023.

Isn't the output a bit low ?
It is for now but each drop is important for energy balance and decreasing imports, lets hope that exploration drilings will continue and that you will find more rich wells.

That only matters if you can breakeven with the cost. Which means you cover all the expenses related to investment and operating the wells.

I understamd that quantities are simbolic but lets look it as long term investnemt and aquiring know how for potential bigger explotation, in theory you should find bigger wells in that region considering that areas south of it are rich with oil. I hope to the best, finding those kind of fields wuold be turning point for Turkey in every direction possible.

We have had plenty of experience from the wells in Batman (Turkey) from back before 1970. Though some have said that RTE and AKP got rid of all the experience personnelle and people who have been involved in all these projects.

There was some talk back some years ago that there is a lake of oil under southeast Anatolia but the oil was thick and was not economical to extract. Some CO2 tech was needed. If tech becomes cheaper the cheap can get the tech.
