Tunisia faced its biggest crisis in a decade of democracy on July 25 after President Kais Saied ousted the government and froze the activities of parliament, a move his foes labeled a coup that should be opposed on the street.

Thank you. I think it's quite important to let people know that unless you hold elections, swapping governments, staff and whatever doesn't necessarily mean the government /ministers in question are elected by the people.

This is only true for the parties involved right after the election. As we can see in some countries ministers, and people in different positions are being swapped out like used cloth.

Which is why I would think holding an election when a government falls is a must. better to hold 100 elections than fail to hold one and pave way for authoritarian/dictatorship.

If the politicians in question truly wants to serve the country they'll make coalition and make it work, in worst case nothing will be done, and hopefully the country will have well established checks and balances in places along with democratic institutions to keep the country going and the people living. (IMO politicians actively involving themselves in the management of the country is actually detrimental for a country's growth. This due to nepotism etc. etc.).

the actions of the president may seem sudden but they're very anticipated actually there have been many attempts for a coalition but nothing worked, 3 political dialogues failed the country just went into a dead end something have to be done and El Nahdha should not be the one to act first...

Today, Monday, July 26, 2021, President Kais Saied launched a series of consultations that included the heads of a number of national organizations and opened them with a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labor Union Noureddine Taboubi.
The Tunisian Association of Democratic Women announced today that its president, Naila Zaalami, is now holding a meeting with the President of the Republic, Kais Saied.
And she indicated in a statement she issued on her Facebook page that the meeting came at the request of Saeed and that it comes within the framework of the consultations that the head of state is conducting with national organizations.
It is noteworthy that Saeed had met earlier today, the Secretary-General of the Labor Union, Noureddine Taboubi, after which the executive office of the union issued a statement calling on Saeed to provide constitutional guarantees and expedite the termination of exceptional measures, stressing his rejection of the policy of cure and settling accounts.
He also met Abdul Majeed Al-Zar, head of the Farmers' Union.

This time, I wish I had been wrong. I wish the document we published in May detailing how Kais Saied was going to take over Tunisia, subvert the constitution and close down parliament had been fabricated.

At the time, I was pilloried for it. No such plan existed, I was told. It was all the product of my Islamist contacts, I was told. In fact, the source of the document was secular, and inside the presidency itself.

The document states that Mechichi and Ghannouchi would not be allowed to leave the palace, and that the palace would be disconnected from the internet and all outside lines.

At that point, the president would make a television address to the nation in the presence of Mechichi and Ghannouchi to announce his coup.

The document then states that a general, Khaled al-Yahyawi, would be appointed acting interior minister and that armed forces would be deployed “at the entrances of cities, vital institutions and facilities”.

Simultaneously key people would be placed under house arrest. “From from the Ennahda Movement... Nur Al-Din Al-Bahiri, Rafiq Abd Al-Salam, Karim Al-Haruni, Sayyid Al-Ferjani, Deputies of Al-Karama Bloc, Ghazi Al-Qarawi, Sufian Tubal, businessmen, advisors at the Prime Ministers Court, etc,” the top secret document states.

Thats not absurd, you want to solve a problem with another problem what will result in a problem and thats absurd. I feel sorry for the people to endaover another dictator. Today people who supported Egypt coup are living in Turkey, economic crisis and health crisis with solve with coup.

It is only a stupid reason for a coup.

yet it's not a coup, the suspended parliament is actually none functional due to conflicts and infighting which hindered other institutions and paralyzed the country they even can't agree to make a session to withdraw confidence from a failed government that 70% ministers are sacked or resigned. The president is reorganizing these institutions...

You do not disolve parllament because of corrupted polticians, you pressure or reform juridicary system but any given reason is good for justification for coup.

again the parliament is not dissolved it is suspended for a month and immunity is revoked from them... they're still deputies

ok. lets see what will happen in month and future, meanwhile Turkey should be aware of this aspect of propaganda warfare, not saying that this kind of activities cancel people discontent but it is significant tool for shaping political views of gullible people.
