Is this one for wood work only or can also cut metal? Can you say anything by the look of it? (I know that there are different types of CNC routers)

From what I can see in the pic and routers I have worked with so far, it likely reasonably handles aluminium and other soft metals (brass, copper etc) as there is a spray nozzle near the spindle for oil mist coolant needs specific to metal bit on metal piece contact. Steel, titanium etc I doubt it can handle judging from the motor size.

From the video I doubt it will be tasked to much aluminium stuff (plane seems to be mostly composites and wood structurally), though its handy for it to be multi-purpose for whatever does come up there if needed.

I would assume it is mostly tasked with making wood mold (bringing its mill-routing to bear) for the composite panel lay-up needs and easy scaling up of these numbers needed later. It can churn those out no problem.

Well, I would still consider it a political stunt since it's only two prototypes. It's certainly a good start/achievement but both aircrafts are certainly not good enough for a modernized BAF IMHO.

BBT-2 is certainly a lot improvement than BBT-1 but still lacks modern avionics and composite material. I guess the local composite material workshop (probably for wing part, I can't remember) for Grob trainers will help BAF for this issue. Avionics can be imported or manufactured locally.

I am still expecting a third prototype with tandem seats to replace PT-6 otherwise what's the point of these two prototypes when we already have Grob and Diamond trainers. 🤷‍♂️

Still wondering why they built the first prototype. Also there are challenges for PROPER funding and serial production. Keep in mind this not BAF first project, their UAV and NDB (non-directional beacon) projects also faced challenges. (Check previous posts)

Think of it more like technology and expertise acquisition at least. It would help a lot. And UAV is definitely coming, it will have actual service utility given its very nature. (See Ukraine conflict, how anything decent in this domain is pretty much utilized to great effects)

Grob are replacing PT-6 I believe.Don't see any other reason to order 24+3 of them.BAF has discarded tandem seat trainers in favour of two seaters in my opinion.

As far as politics are concerned, I don't think this has had any impact on local politics.Most Bdeshis don't know/care about these things.

Bruh, if you believe a single political stunt like this is for the majority of the people then no offence, you live in another political world probably, not deshi or subcontinental. Every political stunt is targeted for a different or specific group of people and this bbt news was all over in the mainstream news as well as " mainstream news youtubers" so, considering the IQ level of bangladeshi people this was all planned and well played and this kind of stunt is almost nothing new to our lengendary baf. Not to mention, the name itself is political. I wouldnt have cared or commneted about it much if baf had the required jets and stuff now as well as navy had started to get their frigates and other deterrence right now. Then I would have see this as a bonus. The more times go by the more I start to believe FG2030 is like a scam!

UAV instead of this would have been a little different. But a trainer? come on man, baf is a Trainer Air Force already a running joke for almost a decade!

Pico Satellite for Bangladesh is a joint research initiative of BSMRAAU and Pico Satellite Company of Bangladesh. The main idea is to develop a series of pico satellites or cube satellites locally that are low in cost but high in return. A dedicated Lab has been set up in the Lalmonirhat Campus as well as in the Dhaka Campus of BSMRAAU, where a significant number of students and faculty members are working under the supervision of Professor Dr. Nazmul Ula, Founder of Pico Satellite Company.

The current objective of this project is to build a flight-ready 1U CubeSat by December 2023. Along the way it is expected that the required expertise will be developed among the students and faculty members to build many more pico or cube satellites in the future.

This may pave the way for a full-fledged space program here in BSMRAAU within the next 10 years. The global CubeSat market is projected to be valued at 491.3 million US dollars by 2027. BSMRAAAU wants to help Bangladesh to be a part of that economy. In this regard, expertise, facilities, and opportunities are being gathered here in BSMRAAU to facilitate small-scale space entrepreneurship in the near future in Bangladesh.

Objectives:

⦁ International collaboration on research in the field of design, development and launching of CubeSats.
⦁ International collaboration and cooperation with Pico Satellite Company.
⦁ Expansion of joint research initiative with NRB Scholar Dr. Nazmul Ula, Associate Dean and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Loyola Marymount University, USA.
⦁ Infuse education on design, development and launching of CubeSats into the undergraduate students of BSMRRAAU.
⦁ Develop a collaborative research ecosystem amongst the students and faculties of BSMRAAU.
⦁ Create a pathway for Bangladesh to achieve its own Space Economy.

On 28 February 2024, on the fifth foundation anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University, a successful balloon test of the Cube Satellite was completed in the presence of Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, BBP, BUP, nswc, fawc, psc, Chief of Air Staff, Bangladesh Air Force, as the Chief Guest.

Vice Chancellor of BSMRAAU Air Vice Marshal AKM Manirul Bahar, BSP, ndc, hdmc, afwc, psc, ADWC, Vice Chancellors of other universities, teachers, and other distinguished guests were also present at that time.

In this test of the cube satellite assembled in the lab of BSMRAAU, the cube satellite was raised to a height of 1126 feet above the ground in a weather balloon.

Later, temperature, pressure, altitude, and satellite camera images were recorded through self-made ground stations. This type of test is the first in Bangladesh.

Assembly of this Cube Satellite, construction of the payload circuit, mission design, all programming, and construction of the ground station were done by 'Pico-Satellite for Bangladesh' Project Team.

This project is a joint venture of Pico Satellite Company, BSMRAAU and ICT Division a2i.

It is under the overall supervision of a Valiant Freedom Fighter Professor Dr Nazmul Ula, Distinguished Professor Air Commodore (retd) Dr Md Afzal Hossain, and Assistant Professor Md Samin Rahman.

Besides, BSMRAAU students played a leading role in this balloon test: Redwan, Nuzhat, Benzir, Alif, Rafi, Ushoshi, Moontaha, Siam, Ehsan, Sami, Joy, Faria, Humaira, Samia, Ninad, Shafeen, Fatiha, Holyjeet, Ahnaf and Olee.

With this historic achievement, BSMRAAU represented a significant breakthrough in space technology research and development in Bangladesh.

It also demonstrated a strong commitment to developing the next generation of aerospace engineers and scientists.

The 'Pico-Satellite for Bangladesh' project team is working with the dream of manufacturing small satellites in Bangladesh and exported outside the country.

Thus, slowly but surely Bangladesh will become an important part of the global space economy.
