I'm not against brotherly relations with Pakistan. I just don't want Pakis flooding and hijacking my country. Azerbaijan has a very strict border control policy. We wouldn't even let Afghan refugees into the country. Even Hazaras, who are probably the most abused ethnic group in Afghanistan and have some degree of a Turkic connection and sympathy from most of the general populace, have difficulties getting into Azerbaijan without very strict background checks. Iranians especially are not getting in considering that Iranian drug smugglers have been a thorn in our side for years and any illegal trying to cross the border into Azerbaijan will either get immediately deported or imprisoned indefinitely.

These guys were last spotted by Canal Istanbul excavation site, armed with shovels and pickaxes! How hard could it be to man the posts along the Iranian border and seal it? Obviously it is not a priority, not yet.

There seems to be an unspoken policy in action. “EZ Pass” for refugees into Europe? Did not work the first time, rifle back-fired! Settling them in Turkey, despite public rage (as @Glass🚬 pointed out)? I do not think so, it will be a huge blow to anything Erdoğan stands for.

The only (and logical) explanation that comes to mind is that we are planning on messing with the demographics, not of Turkey, but well into Syrian territory. Settlers along Turkey‘s southern borders will permanently eliminate the risk of a YPG/PKK state neighboring us. It is not a first, history of Middle East showcases countless relocations.

This refugee situation cannot be sustained for long. I say we are at the brink of a large scale military intervention, deep into Syria.

If our republic is in such despair to accept bribe to keep refugees outside Europe, I agree, that is just a disgrace. At this point, are you suggesting that to use refugees as a leverage (and threaten to open the gates of hell!) serves a single purpose, to maintain a flow of the alms?

I have not heard of Erdoğan making such a call, “come, whoever you are, come!”, at any platform! Are you suggesting that the sole purpose of the “open borders“ policy is to serve a consolidated ummah?

You have people justifying open borders because not to feel racist or because of Ummah reasons.

But in the past open borders has never been allowed even the Ottomans had a strict policy of who can get into their empire.

Turkiye is also a bridge between Europe and Asia.
