UK plans offshore asylum centres in Pakistan and Turkey for Afghans

Defence secretary says processing hubs will be used for those Britain has ‘an obligation to’

1037.jpg

Britain plans to establish offshore asylum centres for Afghan refugees in countries such as Pakistan and Turkey, as ministers admit that the UK will not be able to rescue those eligible for resettlement before troops leave Kabul.

The defence secretary, Ben Wallace, said in a newspaper article on Sunday that the UK planned to establish a series of processing hubs across the region outside Afghanistan, for Afghans it had “an obligation to”.

At least 1,429 Afghans have been evacuated from Kabul since last Friday, as part of the Arap relocation scheme designed to help interpreters and others who have helped the British during their 20 years in Afghanistan.

But it is estimated that a similar number – or more – remain in the country. The emergency airlift was continuing on Sunday, with RAF flights operating despite a crush at the airport gates as desperate Afghans try to flee.

Nato believes 20 people have died around the airport in the last week, but Britain’s armed forces minister, James Heappey, said the flow outside the airport had improved because the Taliban were “marshalling people into separate queues for the US evacuation and the UK evacuation”.

A total of 1,721 people – Britons, Afghans and people from allied countries – had been evacuated from Kabul on eight flights in the past 24 hours, Heappey said, with the RAF receiving help from its Australian counterpart in getting people to safety.

But British officials already acknowledge that it is virtually impossible to evacuate people coming from outside Kabul, although Afghans with a claim have told charity workers they would risk crossing the country if they knew they had a flight.

The new proposal was born out of the emergency, Wallace said, in an article in the Mail on Sunday. “The [Arap] scheme is not time-limited. We shall stand by our obligations and are investigating now how to process people from third countries and refugee camps,” he wrote.

A scheme to establish an offshore immigration centre was included as part of the Home Office’s nationality and borders bill, published in the early summer, before the western-backed government in Afghanistan collapsed.
It was controversial because the intention was to allow the UK to send people to a third country to allow their claims to be processed. Officials had begun talks with Denmark about creating a processing centre in Africa – but how it will link together to the emergency centres is unclear.

Britain has also agreed to take 20,000 Afghan refugees in a separate scheme announced on Tuesday, 5,000 of which will be in the first year. Priority will be given to groups who are most at risk of human rights abuses, such as women, girls and those from religious minorities.

Ministers are also debating how to respond to the Taliban, with the home secretary, Priti Patel, understood to be exploring with security officials whether they should be proscribed as a terrorist organisation alongside the likes of Isis.
But the prime minister, Boris Johnson, and other government departments have been holding out the possibility of recognising the Taliban government in Kabul, arguing the regime should be judged by “actions not words”.

Lmaoo they are threatening to kick us out of our own country 🤣🤣🤣

All it took was a few smashed windows to send a message to these "refugees".

I can safely say it will get worse next time. They should not play with peoples nerves.

These people are all acting tough while at the same time they begged for asylum. Will see who will get kicked out.

Ungrateful pieces of trash.

I don't mean to start sounding racist or anything but, um, a big part of it is their overall culture. They are not really brought up with any kind of stability or respect for rules, only respect for "might makes right". People act nice to them thinking that they are just being oppressed but no. These assholes will simply take these kinds of gestures as signs of weakness and think that they've got the upper hand.

There's a reason that the regions these people come from usually only have stability at the point of an iron fist. You need at least a century or two to permanently breed this kind of mentality out of them and in order for that to happen, you need to apply the kind of brutal law enforcement that would have other nations screaming "NAZI!" so they learn their lesson.

People are ultimately just animals with a capacity for reason and they respond to the same kind of training initiatives. If they do the right thing, reward them and encourage it. If they don't, punish them. If they refuse to change and remain miserable because it's the only life they ever knew, it's their problem. It's tragic in a sense but people are not obliged to accommodate your backwards mentality in their homes.

You want computers, iPhones, fancy cars, shopping malls, life like in a Hollywood movie, learn to adapt to that culture. Otherwise you don't deserve it and your only fate will be to live in disease-and-terrorism-ridden hellhole for the rest of your existence. Better luck in the next life, pal.

And for the record, I'm not saying this from a place of superiority. Places like Azerbaijan are still, in some ways, plagued by similar mentalities but we are far, FAR ahead of these guys when it comes to progressing beyond it.

Might makes right is in Turkic culture too. I suggest these people dont piss us off any further.

Also not just Arabs who constantly cope or seethe about the Turks its Greeks, Armenians, Kurds, Assyrians and various others.

No matter how respectful you are and no matter how much you help they will use this to spit on your face because either we are barbarians, mongols, murderers and various other tags.

You literally have Kurds who live in Turkey saying we are going to kick you Mongols back to Central Asia.

Sorry I cant tolerate this shit. Isnt it ironic how most non Turks that live in Turkey have the right to insult the natives who live there when we insult them back the cops either arrest the Turks or shut them up because we are harming the peace.

Its all BS. If they dont like it they can feel free to leave the country.

I no longer buy the bs refugee image they need help when Afghan refugees rejected help from Uganda.

Kılıçdaroğlu: I will send all Syrians and Afghans to their countries within 2 years

CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu stated that he will send all Syrians and Afghans in Turkey to their countries within 2 years and said, 'We have fed ourselves in this country and they are left? I am very sensitive about this issue, I am not racist, I am not angry with the people who come, I am angry with those who bring them.

02 September 2021 12:42Updated: 02 September 2021 12:47
Kılıçdaroğlu: I will send all Syrians and Afghans to their countries within 2 years

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who came to Nevşehir to participate in various programs, listened to the problems of the farmers, who claimed that they could not pay the electricity bills they used in irrigation in Yazıhüyük town of Derinkuyu district.

Kılıçdaroğlu, who received information from the District Chamber of Agriculture President Yavuz Şen and the farmers about the agricultural products exhibited by the farmers on a trailer and showing the price increases last year and this year, said that the farmers collected their barley, wheat, corn by collecting and selling them with a certain profit, and in this way they made their living. Said they did.

Emphasizing that agriculture is a strategic sector all over the world, Kılıçdaroğlu said:
Normally, a good planning should be done and within the framework of that planning, a certain income should be guaranteed by the state to the farmer. How much does it cost, let's say '100 liras', it will yield 25 liras."

FARMERS: DID THEY FIND THE DOLLAR?

One farmer said, "Sir, they couldn't find the dollar? They don't have the dollar either." Kılıçdaroğlu said, "They took care of it, they took care of 128 billion dollars, but I have a promise to you, I will put an end to all these disgraces when we come to power with God's permission. We will give the support to him if he has robbed the state. With your permission, we need your support as well." he said.

THEY SAID WE'VE GROWED 21.7 PERCENT

Reminding that in a recent question paper, the farmer's electricity debt is 22 million liras, Kılıçdaroğlu stated that he could not pay this debt because the farmer could not earn throughout Turkey.
Reminding a farmer that it was announced that the Turkish economy grew by 21.7 percent in the second quarter of this year, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "Well, someone has grown, except for the farmer, except for the tradesman, except for the greengrocer, except for the grocery store. They did not grow, but some people grew, we know that. Be patient, this is my request from you. The chest will come, be patient." used the phrase.

WITHIN TWO YEARS AT THE LAST...

Kılıçdaroğlu, a farmer, "What do you think about the Syrians in Turkey?" He answered the question as follows:
"Don't worry, we will send all Syrians and Afghans within 2 years at the latest. Do not worry at all. We have fed ourselves in this country and they are left behind? I will send them to their hometown. Everyone should go to their hometown. Let them live in peace there. The benevolent help there too. He is not here, but help there. I will ensure their safety. I will help them. I will make their home, road, school. Let them go to their hometowns. They say, 'We are both national,' they have changed the texture of Turkey, they are changing its ethnic structure. We will remove them."

A farmer said, "Afghanistan surrendered in 24 hours, is there no patriot in it?" After his words, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "They are all here. Afghan youths are here, we are sending the military there. Is our soldier's blood for sale, for God's sake. Why should our soldier go 2 thousand 900 kilometers away, 2 thousand 900 kilometers away? Our soldier's nose bleeds, his feet should not be touched by a stone. " made its assessment.

Expressing that they gave 40 billion dollars to the Syrians, Kılıçdaroğlu said that if they give 40 billion dollars to the producers, farmers and those who shed their sweat, the country will rise.

'The box will come, there is no chance to escape from it'

Noting that they are now going downhill in a truck with a broken brake, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "I say God bless us. The ballot box will come, there is no chance of escaping it. The ballot box will come, we will sit down and teach them a lesson in democratic ways." said.
A woman said, "They are taking away the rights of animals, where are the rights of us women?" Kılıçdaroğlu said, "We will give women's rights, have no doubt. Your rights are not paid anyway. Mothers are not paid." gave the answer.

Upon the woman's claim that her son was fired because of FETO, that he was not prosecuted in court, and that he has not been able to get a job for 6 years, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "If there is nothing, I promised. All of them with a decree... Look, the state is not ruled by hatred, the state is not ruled by anger. he said.
Kılıçdaroğlu then made a tour of the tradesmen in Derinkuyu district and chatted with the citizens, drank the tea offered to him, and took pictures with the citizens.

In one/two decades if they are not send back, be sure that Hatay, Urfa... will be lost to Arabs without a single shot fired.

They are a existential threat, some people forget or ignore that. No wonder that HDP and other internal traitors, EU etc. want that Turkey keeps the refugees. They all benefit from that. But our political Islamists justify all that treacherous acts against the country and it's people as humanitarian matter...

UK plans offshore asylum centres in Pakistan and Turkey for Afghans

Defence secretary says processing hubs will be used for those Britain has ‘an obligation to’

I think we should decrease dependency on the EU. More diversification is needed for our exports. We are too dependent on the European market.

Turkey maximizes border security against migrant wave risk

BY DAILY SABAH WITH AA

In the face of a new potential migrant wave due to the instability in Afghanistan, Turkey has maximized measures on its eastern border. The governor of Van, Turkey's eastern border province, reiterated Monday that security forces act in coordination and are on watch 24/7 thanks to technological data. He also rejected the claim that there is an influx of irregular migrants on the border.

The construction of one of the leading measures, the modular wall and smart tower, which starts on the Iranian border of Van's Çaldıran district and extends to Doğubayazıt in Ağrı and Yüksekova of Hakkari, continues.

In Van, which has the longest border with the neighboring country Iran, the security forces are taking every precaution to prevent illegal migration and smuggling activities, eliminate terrorists, catch irregular migrants who want to cross into Turkey and hand them over to the relevant institutions.

In the modular wall works initiated to prevent border crossings, 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) of the 63-kilometer section was completed, and a trench was dug for 130 kilometers along the border.

Van Governor Mehmet Emin Bilmez told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the measures on the border have been constantly increasing over the last three years.

Stating that the regiment that previously provided the security of the border was raised to the brigade level, Bilmez said that the gendarmerie served in 9 battalions, 44 police stations and nearly 150 towers.

Explaining that reinforcements were sent to the border after the developments in Afghanistan, Bilmez said: "We have maximized the measures at the border. We are doing our best to make the border impassable."

Bilmez pointed out that the security forces were protecting the border in a coordinated way and continued as follows: "We make use of the latest technology on the borderline. One hundred and three electro-optical towers were built along the border. There are thermal cameras, sensors and radars ... There are systems that detect the direction of the shot. We also make the most of drones. Our security forces work at the border 24/7 in coordination, using all technological data. There is no accumulation of migrants at the border. Sometimes there are people who somehow cross the border. We catch them in derelict buildings that we call 'shock houses.' There has been an increase in the complaints of citizens about this issue recently. We process the immigrants we catch at the removal center. We demolished over 100 derelict structures where immigrants were hiding."

Bilmez also mentioned the wall works are being carried out with three contractor companies at the border. "We have a borderline of 295 kilometers. While providing border security, on the one hand, we are building a wall on the other. Trench digging continues. We dug 130 kilometers of trenches. We built a 7-kilometer wall. By the end of the year, I hope we will finish the 64-kilometer wall work. Our President gave an instruction for another 100 kilometers to be tendered," he added.

Turkey is continuing efforts to bolster the security of its border with Iran to prevent any new migrant wave in the face of the recent developments in Afghanistan. The beefed-up border measures in Turkey, which already hosts nearly 4 million Syrian refugees and is a staging post for many migrants trying to reach Europe, began as the Taliban started advancing in Afghanistan and took over Kabul last month.

Turkey is not the only country putting up barriers. Its neighbor Greece has just completed a 40-kilometer fence and surveillance system to keep out migrants who still manage to enter Turkey and try to reach the European Union.

Authorities say there are 182,000 registered Afghan migrants in Turkey and up to an estimated 120,000 unregistered ones. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan urged European countries to take responsibility for any new influx, warning that Turkey had no intention of becoming "Europe's migrant storage unit."

Addressing the public concerns regarding a possible refugee wave, Erdoğan said that Turkey would ensure the refugees' safe return. Erdoğan also dismissed claims of the opposition that Turkey is hosting 1.5 million Afghan refugees. Regarding irregular migrants, Erdoğan said at least 235,000 Afghans have been sent back.

The number of irregular Afghan migrants detained in Turkey so far this year is less than a fifth of the number detained in 2019, and officials say they have not yet seen signs of a major surge since the Taliban victory, though the long distances mean refugees could take weeks to arrive. The Turkish side of the mountainous border with Iran is lined by bases and watchtowers. Patrol cars monitor around the clock for movement on the Iranian side, from where migrants, smugglers and terrorists frequently try to cross into Turkey.

Turkey has been a key transit point for asylum-seekers attempting to cross into Europe to start new lives, especially those fleeing war and persecution. Concerns have risen over a possible spike in migrants from Afghanistan, due to the United States' pullout from the country and the following surge of Taliban attacks.
Turkey has made it clear that it will not bear the burden of the migration crises experienced as a result of the decisions of third countries.
Turkey hosts nearly 4 million refugees – more than any country in the world. After the Syrian civil war broke out in 2011, Turkey adopted an “open-door policy” for people fleeing the conflict, granting them “temporary protection” status.

Afghans are believed to be the second-largest refugee community in Turkey after Syrians. Many of the migrants arriving via Iran are heading for Istanbul to find work or passage to another coastal city from which to embark for Europe.

Bilmez also emphasized that they have maximized the security measures both on land, in the air and in the lake, and said: "Seven hundred and fifty police special operations, 35 teams and 50 armored vehicles are working on the borderline. It not only ensures the security of contractor companies doing the wall work, but also prevents border crossings by supporting military units. In support of the gendarmerie, three reinforced commando squadrons and a commando battalion came to our city as reinforcements. As the security measures on land increased, smugglers started to use Van Lake with boats. In this context, the Coast Guard Boat Command was established with the instructions of our Ministry of Interior. The teams also started to work in Van Lake. The Coast Guard Command is responsible for the entire lake."

Turkey has launched a new unit to prevent smuggling activities and ensure security on Lake Van. The Turkish Coast Guard Boat Command will play an active role in preventing irregular migrants from being taken to other provinces by boat, according to officials.

Stating that they have intensified the efforts against migrant smugglers this year, Bilmez said: "A record-breaking amount of organizers were caught. In 2021, 1,036 organizers were caught and handed over to the judicial authorities. Nearly half of them were arrested. The trials of the others are still ongoing. The penalties are not enough of a deterrent. The number of organizers we caught last year was 599."

No surge in migrants

In a press briefing, Interior Ministry spokesperson İsmail Çataklı also said Monday that the negative claims on Turkey's security border are unjust to the soldiers in charge of border security, the police who support them, the gendarmerie and the reputation of the state.

"Turkey is not demanding, welcoming or displaying deliberate inaction on this influx, as some groups claim," he said.

Çataklı stated that 201,437 irregular Afghan migrants were caught in 2019. This number reduced to 50,161 in 2020 and it is 40,098 this year so far.

"In 2020, despite the negative effects of the pandemic, we prevented the migration of 122,000 people. Since the beginning of the year, 94,915 irregular migrants have been caught," he added.

"The number of foreigners blocked at the border in 2020 is 505,375, and 307,850 so far this year. The claim of an abnormal increase is not confirmed by the figures," Çataklı said.

Turkey denies claims on providing citizenship to 3,000 Afghans

ANKARA

Turkey denies claims on providing citizenship to 3,000 Afghans

Turkey on Sept. 8 denied claims that it granted citizenship to 3,000 Afghan nationals in return for payment.

"The claims that the U.S. made 3,000 Afghans nationals the citizens of the Republic of Turkey in return of a price are absolutely false," the Directorate General of Civil Registration and Citizenship Affairs said in a statement.

The statement emphasized that according to the Turkish Citizenship Law, foreigners, who have been in Turkey with a valid residence permit for five years without interruption, or have been married to a Turkish citizen for three years, or have made an investment in the scope and amount determined by the country's president, can apply for citizenship.

There should also be no obstacle in terms of national security and the public order for acquiring citizenship, it said.

"It is not acceptable to offend the institutions, damage their reputation and mislead our nation with this unfounded information shared with the public with claims of unknown origin, which are not based on any concrete information and documents," according to the agency.

Similar claims have been made before, and all "unfounded claims" have been refuted with concrete documents and data, it added.

There is a pretty simple solution to this actually. Do like Denmark. TBMM will have to vote on granting citizenship to non turkish nationals. The group has to consist of all political party members and they have to vote on each case.

So unless your parents are turks/nationals and have turkish pasport you as an immigrant will have to wait for approval from TBMM.

Crossing the border and being born in Turkey shouldn't give you national status.

EU: Turkey must stick to migrants deal

Varhelyi-epa.jpg

The European Union wants Turkey to abide by the agreement on migrants reached in March 2016, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi told Turkish officials in his two-day visit to the country on Monday and Tuesday.

The agreement, reached after a year of extensive migrant flows, commits Turkey to stopping undocumented migrants from crossing into the European Union and taking back those expelled by EU states, especially Greece.

Varhelyi met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, Trade Minister Mehmet Mus and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s spokesman Ibrahim Kalin.

In the wake of recent developments in Afghanistan, and given the continued presence of millions of Syrian refugees, the EU will provide an additional €3 billion to Turkey in aid.

EU officials say Turkey again raised its longstanding demand for visa-free travel to the bloc, but, as with the Cyprus issue, it “was not discussed in depth.” Varhelyi and Turkish officials also discussed the long-stalled talks over Turkey’s joining the EU.

EU: Turkey must stick to migrants deal

It seems that the Turks did not read what was written in the agreement when signing this agreement 😅 How did they accept this? This agreement is worth at least 100 billion euros
