The Russian President’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov criticized US plans to provide military assistance to Ukraine. He believes that this could provoke an escalation in Donbas. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
“We believe that this could potentially be a reason for unpredictable actions of the Ukrainian side in terms of attempts to resolve the conflict in the south-east by force. This is very dangerous,” Peskov states.
According to him, the Kremlin "paid attention" to the plans to provide US military assistance to Ukraine.
As it was reported earlier, a meeting between US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took place in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, on September 1. Later, the press service of the Ukrainian president released a joint US-Ukraine statement on strategic partnership. In it US promises that Washington will continue its efforts to hold Russia accountable for its aggression against Ukraine, including the war in Donbas and the annexation of Crimea.
Earlier, the United States promised to provide Ukraine with up to $60 mln in military aid.
