Russia's territorial claim in Kazakhstan

Moscow increased its power and gained new lands in Crimea, Donetsk, Karabakh, Moldova, Syria, Libya and even Africa. Now claiming territory from Kazakhstan.

Vyacheslav Nikonov, head of the Russian State Duma Education and Science Committee, spoke on Russian state television on 10 December, saying that Kazakhstan "did not exist before."

“There were no settlements in Northern Kazakhstan. There were [Ethnic Cossacks] but much further south. "Kazakhstan land is a great gift of Russia and the Soviet Union."

So why does Russia still want to expand its territory despite being the world's largest land state? What is Moscow's territorial policy in Kazakhstan, unable to resist losing its power with the collapse of the Soviets?

They don't want land for the sake of land but having a pretext for invasion just in case ex Soviet republics have it in their mind to become to independent is always useful for Moscow.
It's the same story with Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Belarus and the Central Asian "-stans".

"Careful now or we'll have to intervene to protect all those oppressed Russian ethnics still living there on those lands we actually gave away to you as a gift "

Also Georgia btw in 2008, which made Georgia halted their intention to join NATO. If they not halted that in 2008, I guess Article 5 would active in 2008.

I really don't know how this certain country thinking. Maybe the Silovikis want to grab the land the Soviet was lost.

The West are pushing for a ceasefire in Ukraine & then give Russia greenlight to attack Kazakhstan

Just like they did to Serbia in the 90s after the Croatian conflict in 91-92 which led to the Bosnian war after Serbia-Croatia agreed on a ceasefire.

I think ultimately russians are going to find themselves removed from most regions they invaded. The world is pretty much sick of them and their hostility. They are already getting culled in Ukraine, they shouldn't be so sure that Ukraine is going to be the end of it, it may just be the start. The nuclear umbrella protects Russia from any direct outside invasion, it doesn't protect them from diving head first into minefields as seen in Ukraine. Ukraine in terms of military capability was an exceptionally weak nation and your on your way to losing that war, it wont last more then another year and Russians will be completely removed from those lands and they will have earned it.

If Russia was successful in Ukraine. Kazakhstan would have been next on the list.

Ever since the Soviet Union collapsed the Russians have been trying to claw back their territory that they lost.

Chechnya>Georgia>Ukraine round 1>Ukraine round 2. Belarus is already a vassal state of Russia.

Kazakhstan would have been next since the Russians are bogged down in Ukraine I dont see them invading Kazakhstan for a long time.

Ever since the Russians invaded Ukraine. Kazakhstan has been arming.

Kazakhstan also has a huge population of Russians living there so dont be surprised if the Russians pulled off Donbass arguments and started invading.

Whats interesting if the Russians invaded Kazakhstan they would have most likely gotten away with it rather than invading Ukraine.

Kazakhstan would have been another Chechnya or Bosnia. The people are Turkic and mostly Muslim plus its too far to even bother fighting for compared to Ukraine which is on Europe's doorstep.

What saved Kazakhstan in ny opinion that it is landlocked it offers no warm water ports I doubt Russia wants more landlocked land or more Caspian sea ports.

Geography saved Kazakhstan from invasion. Russians were like fck it we would invade later when the time is right rather than fully committing to it until they deal with their front yard which is Ukraine, Baltic Sea, Belarus and the Black Sea.
