I have not watched the interview, but TAI / TUSAS CEO has said multiple times that they are already working on it, but technically there will be a tender to determine who gets the contract. I guess at this point its more formality than anything else and Ismail Demirs comment seems to confirm that imo.

Yeah! I got that impression too from Temil Cotil's interview last month when he was in uk! It looks like they are giving up or at least not very confident about the kale RR partnership! even though uk lifted the arms embargo in recent days!

Lifting arms embargo is one thing and transferring intellectual property of turbofan engines is another. It has always been the contentious issue between two parties. I don't know any example that RR, GE or PW completely ceding IP of their low-bypass military turbofan engines with max. thrust of 25,000lb+ to a foreign company & country in the recent years. Turkey will move ahead with its indigenous turbofan development plan. Only time will tell if Turkey was bluffing with Rolls-Royce to get a better deal or didn't need British help from the start.

I'm afraid the exodus of defence-sector engineers leaving the country might snowball after Ismail Demir's comments about it last night.

He hinted that restrictive measures are underway to keep them in the country.
As I understood from what was shared. Engineers involved at certain level would face restrictive moves to limit their travel abroad.

e.g. Those who are working on source code and such things that are sensitive.

This is logical, i have also adressed this issue before. But this should be done for sake of secrecy, not for preventing these people from resignation, however even resignation may not be prevented with such a regulation. They are "abusing" this kind of clearance - security level based restrictions merely to prevent people from resigning since they can not provide the economical comfort to these people. Let's accept it, economical comfort is not the sole reason but transparency, injustice promotions and lack of accountability are tiring the engineers more than ever. The positions (not talking about simple engineering positions, but senior-lead engineer - management positions) should be given to people who deserves, not the ones who happens to know someone at somewhere.

This is normal
We did have this discussion before when we were talking about the Pakistani engineer working at TAI pakistan branch

Certain technological expertise are just too sensitive to allow engineers to just go here and there

One of my friend's older brother studied basic nuclear research in the US 7 years ago, when he began to study the advanced stuff, he received information from the police department that the govt will never allow him to travel abroad again or even between states without police or govt approval; he immediately quit and transferred to the faculty of pharmacy

In Iran, nuclear engineers are prohibited from leaving the country; the same is in Russia and China. Moreover, this isnt for nuclear tech only but for sensitive areas like software programming or engine tech etc....

In fact, I started to respect Ismail Demir even more after what he said. He knows what he is doing and has a sound brain which is why a lot of projects under his supervision are actually producing bloody results. Ever since Ismail Demir took control of the SSB and it just got upgraded to a new level; sadly some ppl are too shallow to understand that

You think so because you like what akp does!!
you can not limit engineers!! or free engineers. That is what engineering, freedom!! or like your friend did, they will drop and go elsewhere.
Only for secretive works, you should give some instructions and training to do. If you don't thrust him, do not recruit him at first place. This is not an issue like Pakistani engineer!!

The fact that you believe that is just outright sad

I believe that Mr.Aksit once said that their engine development team which made impressive progress on an international level was being recruited by other massive international corporations with wages that are way higher than the average international wages! Do you know why? They are trying to destroy any sort of competition arising from other nations like Turkey! Just imagine you training young engineers for 3 to 6 years with as much money as you can only for one big overseas company to steal such an individual with money in the span of an hour! Certain technological fields cant just be given out that easy; China has been trying to recruit engineers for engine development at abnormal wages for decades yet none came to China primarily because most advanced nations places heavy restrictions on the tech and engineers involved

I can give thousands of examples and arguments to counter your beliefs but I do know that you still wont be convinced and will remain blinded! This isnt AKP doing since Boeing, Lockheed Martin and BAE are doing the same shit! This is just like the F35 you want so bad even though all F35s worldwide have been grounded due to ejection seat issues and massive operation costs

And yes, my friend's older brother did divert away from such field due to the restrictions; but for those who entered, they do know the consequences! They will get stable jobs and decent salaries and perks from their own govts but will suffer restrictions in other areas which is 100% fair IMO

I don't get why people are having issues with such a restrictions, even in my own contract I have 6 month restriction saying that I can't engage in the same industry as my company after i leave and also why is TEI not putting a huge notice period. Even in my own company it starts with 2 months notice and increases by a week for every year until 4 months notice for leave.

This is normal, I am confused why TEI is just implementing this now.

Same, my uncle who works on F-35 project had really tight restrictions, we didn't even know he was working on F-35 until 2016 and he had 3 years ban for leaving the country/industry and work on different companies in defence industry, he still has really tight restrictions and we don't know what he works on, he can't even confirm or deny his presence in F-35 atm

I agree. I think there must be some reasonable restrictions. On the other hand we should really treat our engineers well, with various perks on accommodation, transport, holidays etc. Otherwise, a brain drain will be catastrophic in the medium term.

You think it is just 4-6 months notice??
It is not a measure but already applied thing in Turkey!!

They should assign managers and leaders to positions in fair way and make company a workable place ,first!!

And any restriction will make things worse!!

Sorry but, why would anyone will leave USA or any developed country??
They have institutes fucked up by politics, they have economic problems like us, or they have any manager ,leader assigned with out fair??
You can not compare and apply same things in Turkey. Just make Turkey and that companies like the ones in developed countries then try to apply those measures!!

it was not completely changing where you live, it was about freaking holidays and visits, sadly he couldn't even attend our grandmothers funeral because of that, now you get it?

Also, USA is not a perfect place, they do have institutes fucked up by politics and right/SJWs, they do have economic problems, albeit better than us, and they do have problems with management too, they are bad, but just not AKP level
