Why would countries that already own 5th gen and are developing 6th gen be really interested in KAAN? But maybe since 6th gen is far away they want a twin engine alternative to F35? Eh don't think so. I certainly wish Italy and Japan would partner with us though.
1.That was just “show some interest”the Japanese interested in tb2 but still didn’t buy .

2.I don’t think the Japanese 5th or 6th gen jet plan will be successful.

Kaan's first delay just got delayed for a few weeks which is quite normal. There doesn't seem to be any sign of the government using this for election purposes, at least not yet. Whenever elections approach some people get paranoid about what the government might be using for propaganda purposes.
Also I don’t think many citizens link the defense industry with the local elections.

In local elections , the metro or highway or food prices is much more important.

Temel Kotil expects KAAN to fly before March ends.

Kotil:

"It would not be right for me to give an exact date for the domestic fighter jet to take off. Testing continues. No problem. We expect KAAN to take off before March"

Haluk Görgün:

"The work is progressing smoothly. Claims that there is an engine problem are not true. Everything is fine. Engine tests and ground tests are carried out. Avionic systems are working smoothly and are being tested. There are certain procedures. There are things to do after flying. We are focused on healthy production, it would be wrong to give the exact date."

They also revised the delivery number of KAAN in 2028. They aim to deliver 10 Block-1 KAAN in 2028.

See the disingenious part here is that, didn't they know about those procedures when expecting it to fly in December and making people expect it?

No. It has to fly in the election month. Not a month before, not a month after.

Or maybe it's just a coincidence. Who knows? 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Never should have mentioned any dates in any form, that was their first mistake. And again I don't like them sayin "we will deliver in 2028", why not just say our goal is to deliver the first aircrafts towards the end of the decade?

I realize now the date falls around the local elections, what a coincidence...

and 2028 is the next presidential and TBMM elections, oh my god. 😂😂

Anyways, has the CDR even been done yet?

People should get used to missed deadlines, there is nothing wrong with setting dates. Missing dates by several months is not a problem at all. You can only tie up loose ends when there is time pressure. Otherwise Moore's law of project management applies "90% of the project takes 90% of the time and the remaining 10% takes another 90% of time". All good.

Adjusting unveiling of a great accomplishment like a 5th gen air superiority fighter to the election season makes perfect sense. And is the right of the government responsible for it to do so. Human attention span decreased to mere days due to era of social media. If KAAN is unveiled 2 weeks earlier instead of 1 it would be like it never happened for average people.

Critical projects like this shouldn't be turned into propaganda fliers for the government to play with as they like. B-21 flew not before US midterm elections but a week afterwards, TF-X is a project that is going to continue being critical for our country even if the government completely changes.

False. B-21 or any other weapons project there is not slightly relevant to existence of Americans as a nation. KAAN is!

How fast have you guys forgotten about the 100th anniversary of the republic of Türkiye. It makes perfect sense to fly the most involved project of the nation before the end of 2023 and the government strove for it. You should be thankful that the officials took the risk of failing to meet the deadline and went for it rather than relaxing and looking away like it does not mean a thing. Thank you engineers and officials for your hard work and bravery, being up for the challenge rather than putting your feet up.

They can/should have a deadline set for a specific date to motivate the team. But that date is kept internally. An aerospace company cannot announce a specific date for a first flight. There could be all sort of things that can go wrong. The weather may not be go, for instance.

You'll lose your credibility if you keep giving dates publicly and keep missing them.

BTW, if this push back is due to a technical reason and not a political one, then be sure the FF won't happen in March.

It's not the government that is striving for it.

The fact that it is made public makes it a government matter. Even the MoD went along with it. An internal target alone won't be respected as they would rather progress slowly but surely.
