I. Demir (SSM) has announced that he wants one big engine company rather than some small or middle weight company. This company should come together to form one.
Maybe, but this kind of ecosystem we have right now on TFX program. I think he wants a fusion of TRMotor, TEI and other companies. Something like that.TOGG like collaborative engine company ? That would be nice.
Rolls royce is already helping us what are you all on about? We shouldn't involve foreigners in or engine development, it can have negative effects in the future. It is OK to get a good indigenous engine several years after the desired time frame. We can have UCAVs with domestic engine before too long which will likely cover 80% of our needs already.
Im hyped for the hürjet combat model as wellThe design of parts for the TF-X is nearly complete according to Temel Kotil. Most components are ready to enter production. Exciting development if true. I'm more excited about Hürjet though. I'm eager to find out how it looks like in real life. So far we've only seen renders, a mock-up and some frontal fuselage sections which were far from complete. I wonder when they're going to give us the next update regarding the project. I'm tired of waiting honestly

Kale(TAEC), TEI, TRMotor, Alp Havacılık can form a concortium.
Being in the heart of defense industry SSB Chief Ismail Demir reportedly wants one big engine company rather than many small ones. Probably like MTU of Germany that makes all kinds of engines. That's the right way to go. The collaboration should be limited and project-orientated.
Personally, I am against the idea of just one company with a monopoly on building engines in Turkey. Given our military-industrial history and the tendency of monopolistic companies to fall back over time, this could lead to a negative outcome at the end of the day.
I would much more like to see many independent, highly sophisticated and technologically advanced medium-sized companies with a good reputation in their respective fields.
These companies are much more suited to invest themselves globally in different projects. Strategically speaking, our defense industry needs to spread out, accumulate partners internationally, generate revenue and knowledge on a global scale which in return will benefit our standing, military and economy. Turkish defense companies shouldn't confine themselves to Turkey.
Also, having just one big corporate doing the job is dangerous in case of international (read Western) sanctions. It makes the company an easy and perfect target if things 'suddenly' go down...
So what? I respectfully disagree with his statement. We're not Germany and we are in a totally different situation geopolitically. Plus, MTU is not a recently founded company. MTU’s Supplier Day was attended by 140 participants representing 70 suppliers from 16 countries.Being in the heart of defense industry SSB Chief Ismail Demir reportedly wants one big engine company rather than many small ones. From the info coming through we can say that before the end of this year, system functionality review (SFR) and system requirements review (SRR) will be completed. With that, PDR will come to an end. The program will be in the stage of initial roll-out next year in March with engines fitted and working. Is PDR completed and CDR started?
