Pilots can be trained. Money can be found. Doesn’t matter how. We need it. Just look around us.
And my mother could have been a bicycle if she had wheels... We can't even fill the current pilot gap for our F16s. How are we supposed to train an additional 600 pilots? In fact, if we bought 600, it wouldn't even be 600 additional pilots. It would be at least twice that number and probably even triple that. We don't even have enough trainer aircraft to begin with. TuAF keeps calling its old pilots who are working at Turkish Airlnies to come fly the jets. Be reasonable. We don't want incompetent pilots who are under trained and will go crash the multi-million dollar thing into a mountain due to stupid decisions. We need good pilots who are on par or even better than NATO standards. It took us many years to even reach that level for F16s through extensive trainings with US pilots. Under the current conditions and military relations with the US, we can't even achieve that. Plus, these things will be completely different aircraft with completely different quirks and tricks. Unlike F16s that have become stable fighters, they will continously go through updates and overhauls. A second block might be something totally different from the first deliveries.

Every new aircraft is easier to fly than the one before.
Dog-fighting that requires experience is becoming obsolete.
We do not need to be able to keep all aircraft in the air but we need to be able to replace the aircraft lost in fight.
There is a point to having more planes and pilots and it is not much more costlier.

We need around 900 pilots for 600 fighters with a 1.5 pilot fighter ratio. That means we need to train 100 pilots for 9 years. It is doable.

may be a toatal of around 300 with whatever will be left from F 16s seems more realistic, plus naval aviation! İf you want more you should have new military airports, logistic and maintenance infrastructure and traning infrastructure, command structure, ammunition stocpiles +adequate number of ground crew and thecnical staff , more Aerial refueling aircrafts and more AEW&C aircrafts......., increasing the numbers (if economicly possibele) is not an issue but keeping the quality is!!! otherwise you will end up like Russian Air force :devilish:

Normally, each pilot should have reach certain flight hours to keep them on edge. This is not sustainable with current and next 10 years economy. As Quasar said, you need to sacrifice from quality.

Even 250 fighters like tfx would be more than enough considering there would be 2 wingmans (mius) with them.
Turkish fighters will not make a flight in South Chinese sea, they would be around the country.
From Invasion of Ukraine, it became obvious again, if you want to be deterrent, you need to have an nuclear arsenal, not more fighters than you need.
Russians military power is obviously overrated but nobody wants to try russian nukes whether they are underrated or overrated.

Simulators with identical cockpits can be used to keep pilots on edge and sorties of UAVs and UCAVs are magnitude cheaper than manned platforms. 1/3 of that 600 fighters will probably be UCAVs. 250 TF-X, 150 F-16, and 200 UCAVs won't be a problem.

Simulators can be put on roller coster type tracks to give some of the sensation of a real ride to student pilots. Turkiye can be a training center for such high end simulators.

If you want to be power in this region ,you should have 500 fighter jets , TFX ,f-16s etc. Total should be 500 at least. Even small Israel has more than 350 fighter jets !

If You ask me, Would Turkish aircraft be deciding factors in wars such as We had in the Last 3 years. I would have say No, And Laugh.

So, This time I wont rule out Turkish aircrafts possible role in a War in South China Sea. Especially considering Taiwan showed some interest to TB2 previously. And It is logical, Mius might be on their Radar As well considering de fact Arms Embargo PRC lobied in DC and They couldnt even get jets for years.

Russians pilots had many hours clocked on simulators and Not many hours on real Airplanes. There is no replacement for real flight and combat experience.

Israelis have US behind them. Same is true for s. Korea and Japan. We have limited budget. We simply cannot afford to pay 16billion dolars for 80 rafale fighters like bae. Even we want to pay it, i do not think that there is anyone willing to provide.

Our borders are mostly surrounded by seas with much larger shoreline which make easier to defend harder to destroy every sam batteries on the line.

Turkey is 35 times larger than Israel. Much harder to penetrate.

Therefore, Israelis are not stupid to invest their airforce in its situation.

Yes everything must always be done from the inside-out to be as powerful as possible.

Who said 'additional'? And why we are not able to train ~200 additional pilots?
