This fighter jet is the first 5 generation bird in the entire modern Muslim history. It's a source of pride and honor with a huge message to the enemies of Turkiye. Baykar utilising the iterate fast hardware rich methodology while TAI utilises a lot of software to refine the product before going to hardware.

TAI was carrying out F-16 assembly and testing activities in the 1980s. Just 15 years ago, Baykar was just project team of a handful of idealist engineers. One is a huge state-owned company, a major supplier to the world's aerospace giants along with being main supplier of air force, the other 'was' an engineering company specializing in a much more niche field and growing with its own resources. (Things changed after Karabakh and Libya. In a way, became an alternative on NATO's eastern flank to the GA-ASI, a subsidiary of General Atomics.) Both company models offer significant advantages. The smaller one has more flexible project management and can pursue aggressive policies in its field. The other is more cumbersome but has a much larger total capacity and internal service areas.

Of course, the entire Turkish aviation industry benefits from this know-how, including Baykar. The reason for the actuators on KE's prototype is partly based on the reason you mentioned. Many things will change until the system reaches the operational level.

To draw an analogy from the US aviation industry, TAI is the Boeing of this country. Baykar, on the other hand, may be compared to Northop, which had lots of crazy engineers and designers once upon a time, in the next 10 years according to possible upcoming projects. The breakthrough they want to create in space technologies is an important detail.

Stealth, as it is not a Mach 2 aircraft they switched to DSI.

Every Turk can be very proud of this accomplishment so far.

Not sure why some folks bring up China, J-20 is tier 2 level given its baked-in tradeoffs (it simply is not in the F-22 mould, as J-20 design parameters are different clearly to push for more range and payload).

There is after all a reason why Chinese defence enthusiasts are reluctant to engage this forum (though they do watch it... to them )

Turkiye is clearly setting path for itself to the full tier 1 standard set by the US/West for full potential 5th gen capability and optimal aerodynamic design for that (without a longer range design driver)....that is the right call given Turkish threat scenario.

Now comes the long road for the inner technology development, testing and maturation. Will be following all that closely.

What Turkey achieved on this very day is nothing short of phenomenal. The result of years of oppression and sanctions made Turks what they are rn and Turks must not stop!

Only a few nations that can be counted on the hand are developing 5th generation jets; hell even developing a jet in the first place!

The beginning of a loong journey to the top. Best of luck GUYS since today is a day where dreams come true. How many nations and news sites have stated that the TFX is nothing more than some govt propaganda just to have their face getting slapped today. The TFX have the souls of each and every Turk in it

Both have strength and weaknesses but Baykar should really call TAI and get help on the actuators part.
