MLRS "Storm" from SE "Shepetivka Repair Plant"

MLRS "Storm" was established at SE "Shepetivka Repair Plant"

"Shepetivka Repair Plant", in accordance with a joint decision of the Ministry of Defense, tested the latest rocket-propelled grenade launcher "Storm". This system is seen as a replacement for the outdated MLRS "Hurricane", which are in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The fire tests of this new MLRS, which recently took place at one of the military training grounds, were exclusively filmed by Defense Express.

MLRS "Storm" is made in the caliber of 220 mm and can use all available rockets for the "Hurricane", as well as new, with an increased range from 35 to 65 km range of targets developed by the CB "South" under the program "Typhoon-2 ".

The new jet system from Shepetivka Repair Plant is equipped with a digital fire control system, including an information exchange system on the battlefield. This allows the "Storm" to be included in a single reconnaissance and strike circuit, when information from reconnaissance vehicles, such as UAVs, is transmitted online to the means of destruction . This minimizes the time from target detection to destruction in minutes.

The "Burevia" tests are carried out in maximum cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, which is interested in this machine. They are integrated into the new high-pass chassis, which will be further equipped with a fully armored cab, "said Oleg Turinsky, director of Shepetivka Repair Plant

"Storm" is placed on an off-road chassis T815-7T3RC1 from the Czech Tatra with a wheel formula 8x8. It belongs to the latest generation of military transport of this company and has an extremely high level of passability, a maximum speed of over 100 km / h, a level of economy and ergonomics.

"For the Ministry of Defense, one of the main priorities is a qualitative renewal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, in the field of long-range artillery systems, which should not only extend the range, but also be located on modern reliable mobile platforms. still housed on obsolete Soviet machines that are already running out of resources.

Given the fact that despite the large number of orders for the Ukrainian army, the Kremenchug Automobile Plant is currently in bankruptcy proceedings, we must find an alternative. "If Bureviy passes all the necessary tests, the issue of transition of the Armed Forces to new wheeled platforms that meet all the requirements of NATO member states, with further localization of their production in Ukraine, will be considered," Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Myronyuk told Defense Express.

"Storm" may become the "first swallow" in the replacement of Soviet chassis for MLRS systems

It should be noted that now such systems as "Hail", "Hurricane", "Tornado", as well as "Alder" are located on the platforms "Ural", ZIL and MAZ, which were developed in the 60-70s and not are made in Ukraine. In fact, now the defense-industrial complex of Ukraine and the Armed Forces themselves are only able to maintain them in working order.

At the same time, the only domestic truck manufacturer is KrAZ, which is privately owned and has filed for bankruptcy. For the whole of 2020, he was able to sell only 29 cars. His property is now up for sale by the Deposit Guarantee Fund.
