Why can Great Britain have 12 nautical miles and Greece can not? When did Greece make an agreement with Turkey not to extend its territorial waters to 12 nautical miles? So you admit that in a pirate, violent and dishonest way Turkey is blackmailing Greece in order to deprive it of its sovereign rights. This is called the real cause of war! You confirm once again that Turkey's foreign policy is based on power and intimidation and not on the peaceful coexistence of two countries!

So you want to change laussanne treaty or you want another war? You made a deal with Turkey and if we don't allow it you will not other whise you can use that treaty as a toilet paper what you people are doing.

Only thing Greece is deserves is the whip.

Lets not forget how you greeks are trying to block us not just from the aegean sea but also the eastern med.

Good thing Turkey has power if not it will bend its knees to you supremacists.

Last time Greeks had power they began a mass slaughter campaign in Cyprus.
When did Greece try to throw Turkey out of the Eastern Mediterranean?
Turkey is the one that sends research vessels and drilling ships to the territorial waters of Cyprus.
The extension of territorial waters to 12 nautical miles is a right of Greece according to the Law of the Sea, already implemented in the Ionian Sea. The fact that the free passage of merchant ships and warships in the Aegean Sea is being closed due to the extension of territorial waters to 12 nautical miles is a real problem and that is why i did not agree with this reasoning. In the Aegean Sea there must be an transnational agreement between Greece and Turkey ignoring the right to extend the 12 nautical miles.
The massacres in Cyprus started by Turkish Cypriots against Greek Cypriots on June 12, 1958 in the Geunyeli area.
Of course, this does not negate the massacres committed by Greek Cypriot citizens and members of EOKA B' against Turkish Cypriot citizens.
But we are talking about a period of time when Greece had the Aprilian junta in government power. Thousands of Greeks were tortured from 1968 to 1974 because of them. They equipped and organized EOKA B' through the military unit of ELDYK. But these are a historical past! What has today's Greece got to do with all this?

Does the Treaty of Lausanne speak of "non-extension of territorial waters to 12 nautical miles"? So what agreement are you talking about? The Treaty of Lausanne is being violated by these Turkish geopolitical analysts and officials where they want 2/3 of Crete and a dozen Greek islands in the Eastern Aegean. Does the fact that Greece illegally equipped the islands of the Eastern Aegean mean that it cannot extend its territorial waters to 12 nautical miles? For the Aegean Sea, i agree that there should be no extension of territorial waters to 12 nautical miles because the free passage of merchant ships and warships is canceled. But south of Crete, by what right does Turkey sign a Memorandum with Libya where it reaches 6 nautical miles from the coast of the island?

Lol the Turkish cypriots were a minority why would they start slaughtering the Greek cypriots who outnumbered them?

More victimhood bs. Greek cypriots wanted Enosis and their biggest obstacle to it was the Turkish cypriots if enosis was to happen the Turkish Cypriots have got to go.

In other words the Turks prevented a sebrenica in Cyprus.

This is not my interpretation but the reality. The 3 nautical miles only exist in your mind. The 12 nautical miles is the right of extension of the territorial waters. That is, what Turkey has done with Bulgaria, Ukraine and Russia in the Black Sea but also with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean. I remind you that Cyprus is an island. The 12 nautical miles are valid for you and not for Greece?

The Turkish Cypriots were not a minority in the northern part of Cyprus but a majority. Such deadly attacks were carried out on both sides. Also, the Greek Cypriots did not want union with Greece. Archbishop Makarios himself was against the Union. It was the Aprilian junta that sought the unification of Cyprus with Greece and that is why it led the coup against Archbishop Makarios.

I am going to ask you a question and that will be your answer what you al ready now it. The treaty is between Greece and Turkey you are awar of that aren't you? So you did make a agreement with Turkey and not interational law of the sea convention. So answer is simple, we don't give a fak about what the law of the sea give you the right for 12 miles. We are not giving you the right and we will force you back to 3 miles. Everything in time.

Makarios was too weak to keep the tensions cool.

It was a matter of time before it got all out of hand.

Sad to say, but this problem will not solve by international law or agreement or third parties. Just by bilateral agreement. Or by war. And it’s seems it will be solved by war in near future. Sad.

Article 6 of the Treaty of Lausanne does not speak of islands with territorial waters of 3 nautical miles but that islands and islets located three miles from the coast are included in the borders of the coastal state. The only island that actually has these requirements and then was part of Greece was Samos with a distance of 1,386 miles off the coast of Asia Minor. I do not know why it was not included as Turkish territory. The only island from the Dodecanese where it meets these requirements is Kos but in 1923 it was Italian territory where it was ceded in 1947 to Greece along with the other islands. Do not talk to me about the violation of the Treaty of Lausanne because you demographically altered the Greek population of Istanbul in 1955 with the infamous pogroms. Not to mention the demographic change of the Greek population of Imvros and Tenedos where the Treaty of Lausanne explicitly states that they will not change and that there will be no exchange of populations, nevertheless you forced them and left by seizing their property. I remind you that in the 2000 census Tenedos numbered 2,543 inhabitants of which 2,526 Turks & 27 Greeks, in 1920 the population on the island numbered 2,835 inhabitants and were all of Greek origin. In Imvros the current population numbers 10,106 inhabitants of which 700 are Greeks according to the census of 2020. In the First World War Imvros had 8,000 inhabitants and they were all of Greek origin but once again the Turkish State put its finger on altering the population of the area. In 1926 the new Civil Code of Turkey revoked all the rights of minorities, including the inhabitants of Imbros, in violation of the Treaty of Lausanne. Law 1151 of 1927 forbade the teaching of the Greek language in schools. The provision for the existence of a local police, controlled by the Greek minority on the island, was never implemented. Imbros was renamed Gökçeada and extensive colonization took place from the interior of Turkey with the aim of altering the population composition. Greek properties were expropriated, citing security reasons, at degrading prices. All Greek villages in Imvros have been designated as protected by the Turkish government. Anyone in Imbrios who wants to repair his house should renovate it exactly as it was originally. Imbrians who do not have Turkish citizenship cannot inherit property in Imbros. This is a problem mainly in the case of Greek Imbrian men who have not served in the Turkish army. Also no foreign national can buy a house in Imvros because the whole island is considered a border area. All these restrictions (protected houses, Turkish citizenship) are obstacles for the Greek Imbrians who want to repair / inherit their houses. When there is no heir who has Turkish citizenship, the property after the death of the owner passes to the Turkish state. This is exactly what happened to the properties of about 26 Greeks in the period 1993-2011. And you are talking to me about the Aegean islands and their territorial waters at 3 nautical miles. Look at the blatant violations of human rights in the Greek population in violation of the Treaty of Lausanne and leave the false arguments for the 3 nautical miles.

This logic reminds me of one thing ...... Middle Ages!
Try to come to the 21st century, you will not get anything!
When greece stop to fabircate lies by showning it like true then we can talk and discuss logical things.
As I said so many time in this forum greece time is over. It had time to discuss and solve the issues with Turkiye. 40+ years passed few years left 1-2 .
At present days we see greece goes more more provoctive and change now is that Turkiye will react to those provocation. As we know there will be some provocation which will be big thing and greece will feel the pain as result of this act and will loss.

Note: as greece person you can talk and twist as you like, those writings does not lead to anything. As I said greece lies does not have weight

If the Aprilian junta had not tried to stage a coup in Cyprus against Makarios, everything would have been different. Makarios was not "weak", he was simply betrayed by all those who wanted to exploit Cyprus geopolitically. It was Great Britain, the USA, Greece and Turkey that jointly planned the partition of Cyprus. Great Britain kept the military bases it wanted without endangering the impending union of Cyprus with Greece, Turkey geopolitically set foot on the island by invading, the United States through Great Britain stopped the expansion of the Soviet Union in the Eastern Mediterranean while converted the island in a NATO stronghold, Greece would gain the union of 2/3 of the island with the Greek territory. In fact, the only ones who benefited from this whole story were the Turks, the USA and Great Britain, as the union of 2/3 of Cyprus with Greece never took place.

This is not my mentality thats what everyone does Look at us or russia?
Both countries operate with the same logic, which is why you have close diplomatic relations. As Turkey invaded Cyprus in 1974, so did Russia invade Crimea in 2014. Turkey had no right to invade a third state, Archbishop Makarios was smart enough to keep the Republic of Cyprus united. Besides, no Greek Cypriot or Turkish Cypriot asked you for your intervention.

Like USA? Try to see the world as they are.
It is not my culture to applaud states like the US that invade third countries for geopolitical and economic interests. All the big countries that feel strong and powerful behave in the same way. What exactly does it mean that states behave this way? Because this is how the great powers operate, it must be an example of behavior for Turkey as well? I remind you that Greece was also a strong country in 1920 but it lost geopolitically and militarily from Turkey but also from the Soviet Union a few years earlier (Crimean Campaign). Bigotry is the worst feature of a state, all the empires that wanted to extend their hand beyond what they could at some point were destroyed, the same will happen to the US and any state that wants to look like them. Greece has the experience of such historical mistakes as it was an empire with huge areas, but nothing managed to last in the end. In the end all the "empires" only managed to remain in the history books.
