Green light from Germany to Turkey for Eurofighter Typhoon!

Germany has given the green light for the sale of Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets to Turkey. Thus, there is no obstacle left for Turkey to procure Typhoons.

Turkey has been aiming to procure 40 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets for a long time within the scope of the needs of the Turkish Air Force. The sale, approved by Eurofighter Consortium members Italy, Spain and England, was stuck in Germany’s unilateral embargo. Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler announced that Germany has also approved the sale of Typhoons to Turkey.

In the statement made by Minister Güler on TV100, he said: “We will purchase 40 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets. Germany has been resisting for a long time not to give them, but finally, with the positive contributions of our NATO friends Italy, England and Spain, Germany has finally responded positively.”

According to the information received; Turkey has been in technical talks with the UK for some time regarding the procurement of Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets. The Turkish Air Force plans to procure 20+20 of the latest generation configuration Typhoon aircraft. Thus, it is aimed to add 1 fleet of Typhoon aircraft to the Turkish Air Force inventory in the first phase and 2 fleets in the final phase.

If they allow integration of indigenous weapons and EW pods, IMHO this is a very good purchase.
