That is cheap IMO. 5 Billion for 40 Jets + Armaments + Training I guess? Or is it just for the jets?
That price is probably an educated guess by the writer of the article. But as you rightfully stated it must be for the planes only.
Meteor missiles are around 2 million dollars each. These jets carry at least 4 of them. With spares you are looking at a cost of 700+ million Euros only for the meteors.

We have no idea on the specifics as well. Of training, spares, munitions make-up, integration of Turkish munitions etc.

5bn figure comes up at 125mil per jet. Too cheap, and is probably just the flyaway cost of the jets, not including any of the above.

I expect a price tag per fighter from 125 to 150 million euros, so it looks on the lower side, but 5 billion looks plausible.

Some contracts such as missiles, ammunition, and payloads like pods, will probably be signed separately.

Also probable, different JV companies.

Again to reiterate, there’s no DSCA analogue here, so we may not know the full figure or the full details pf the agreements any time soon.

I think it's a mistake to sign the deals seperately. It would be better for us to sign a complet package to avoid any bumps on the road.

Unless of course buying the EF jets comes with a condition that we must be able to use our missiles from it, up to SOM types.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use A2A missiles we use on F16 from EF ?

The guessed number is probably for the jets + training, I expect another 1-2B in armaments. At the end when all is said and done the sum will probably be around 8-9B. We will also have to pay a good sum if they agree to integrate our Missiles and Bombs.

There are rumours going around (not sure how credible) that TurAF wants a couple T1 for training purposes.

We also still haven't signd the official letter for procurement for the F-16? No? Would not suprise me if we see some news regarding the F-16 and F-35 in the near future (summer)

re: Typhoon
Correct line of thought.
Logical to train pilots on cheap T1 especially if we can get twin seats.

re: F16V70
We have already paid the initial down payment.
No one would pay that unless there is a signed contract.
It is up to the US to go back on their words. From our point of view it should be a signed, sealed deal.

re: F35
If they let us have the planes we paid for; great! Bring them up to may be a squadron strength. Then drag your feet for the rest. Hopefully, by the time they are due, KAAN is in inventory.

I would be very surprised if we get these aircrafts below $200m a piece. Remember, we have no infrastructure to service these jets. We will have to buy a lot of spare parts, maintanence systems, training equipment etc. + the missiles. It will be expensive
