No visa for Cypriots or EU citizens but yes for others also Greek Side has always created problems for everyone other than EU citizens but also EU warned them several times about this that's why they can't prevent EU citizens to freely pass the border. TRNC citizens can pass with TRNC ID card but they don't accept Turkish Citizens from land borders. Turkish Citizens only can go to South via another country like Greece with visa. Also they refused to join Schengen.

One issue is that they don't recognize Ercan and ports so people entering from any port in the North generally rejected at the border. Sometimes they also don't allow other nationalities to pass. For example some Israeli tourists came through an Airport in to South to pass the border to go to Hotels in the North, they don't allow them to enter Cyprus at all. Some Greeks used to come North and fly through Ercan to Turkey or other places when it is cheaper, they tried to forbidden that too but it is against freedom of travel. Before covid we used to get a lot of European tourists through South, and some businesses mostly rely on those border crossings in Nicosia or other places as they sell to Greeks or Tourists visiting.

It is still has that legitimacy of vice presidency of RoC. That is why Turkey tried everything and intervene elections to help Tatar to get the seat. Every and any International institution or official can meet with him. EU, UN, US officials pass the border and visit president regularly (only recognized representative). So Greek Prime Minister shouldn't be ashamed

Joke aside, but do you have sources where I can read up on how different sectors in KKTC are doing with regards to self reliance ? And what's being done ?

Lets say a Turkish Businessman wants to invest in TRNC.. we give them free land and tax exemption, also cabinet would give them citizenship.. if this is you are asking all those 5 star hotels with casinos built with these incentives and belongs to Turkish Conglomerate... And unfortunately not contributing to economy as they don't give proper taxes, they import all their material from Turkey and recruit mostly Turks or Other cheap labour.

Most probably this is true, although I don't trust the guy who wrote it. As Greek CY see themselves as legitimate authority / state they do everything to harden our life when we try to get our rights.. It is a way to solve problem, and dictated by EU yet they try to undermine everything related to property exchange or compensation, because you know if today all problems related to Greek Properties in the North solved, Cyprus issue will become nonsense. We can't request 50 year tax cos nobody sees TRNC as legitimate state and they accuse us that we forced Greeks to left their properties and prevented them to return.. That was a major weapon against us for years but Leftist Government and ex President Talat, founded TMK (Real Estate / Property Compensation Commission) and EU recognized that court! in the North, and said Greeks go apply if you want your property. However we can force them to live here if they want to use their property, in fact some of them get their properties and return their home while most are getting millions of compensation. One of the hardest and most expensive issue is related to compensation of properties in Varosha, and Greek Cyprus does not want us to solve that issue.

It is not what they want, it is what our* court decides* (court in TRNC) instead of them going european court of human rights and force Turkey to pay billions** If you make a research about issue, you will find out that we saved billions and Greeks slapped by Europe.. This was a diplomatic gain, a victory but you guys don't know anything about Cyprus Issue, just look with through nationalistic goggles without knowledge. Before Europe recognized our court* Turkey paid just one house 1 million usd just for damage not for the house! Research about Loizidou Estate ECHR.. If you strongmanss want to do 100 billion trade with Europe and brag about it, you have to obey their laws.. it is not wild west here. Turkey paid that compensation which opened pandora's box. What was all the hype about Annan plan do you think? who wants to lose land or property but it was an opportunity to clean this shit. Thankfully Greeks were dumb and saved us by saying NO..


By Greeks saying No to solution, EU said from now on courts in the North will decide those property cases and issues.. (but if we fail to do we can lose it) Then they accept courts, they gave citizenship to Turkish Cypriots, allowed trade through ports of South and started scholarships, grants for projects etc. But without making a deep research nobody teaches you how important is the diplomatic achievements in recent decades.
