Much biased,Greek Cyprus is not a NATO country, only shows the ''oppression'' of Greek Cypriots.
Turkish police this Turkish soldiers that.

Christopher Hitchens is also Enlightened Athiest as he calls himself also hates Islam more than Christianity and Judaism.

Of course he will favour the Greeks over us.

Religiously bias and racial. Not to mention he was also buddies with neocons.

I don't think the guy was a racial bigot.
But could be characterized as cultural bigot.

Where does this tie with Turkish Cypriots.

Enlightened people had no problem with the Greeks engaging in ethnic cleansing or massacres.

British have always looked out towards their interests but they always favoured the Greeks.

Lets not forget how British were saber rattling for a war against Turkiye also they turned a blind eye to Turkish Cypriots getting murdered.

Dont think Greece was only bad as the British were just as bad if not worse.

South Cyprus, Chevron-led group extend talks over gas plan, minister says

Cyprus and international energy companies led by Chevron (CVX.N) have agreed to extend talks on how to develop its Aphrodite offshore gas field amid progress in negotiations, its energy minister said on Friday.

"It is not a new negotiating round, it's an extension, because there is progress in the conversation," Energy Minister George Papanastasiou told Reuters, confirming a report in the authoritative Middle East Economic Survey (MEES) journal that talks would be extended to Nov. 5.

To avoid "working against the clock" in the negotiation, he said, "we extended it". "It was a mutual extension, the contract allowed any extra extension so this is what we did," he said.

"We believe that by Nov. 5, we will arrive to an agreement," he added.

Chevron did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Nicosia disagreed with modifications proposed by Chevron and its partners earlier this year to a 2019 agreement to develop the estimated 3.5 trillion cubic foot (tcf) gas field, particularly a proposal to remove what Cyprus considers essential processing infrastructure on the sea surface.

The modifications removed a floating gas processing plant, which Nicosia believes is necessary in its exclusive economic zone, and cut the number of production wells to three from an initial five.

Chevron is a partner in the field with Israel's NewMed (NWMDp.TA) and Shell (SHEL.L).

The U.S. is backing Chevron's plans, which it believes will help get gas to the market faster and does not involve building large infrastructure, Reuters reported this month.

Cyprus and Chevron reach a deal to develop an offshore natural gas field, ending years of delays

The Cyprus government and U.S. energy company Chevron have reached a deal on how to develop the Aphrodite gas field, the first to be discovered under the seafloor off Cyprus, an official Friday. The field is estimated to hold 4.2 trillion cubic feet of gas.

The agreement is “mutually beneficial” for both Cyprus and the company, the Cypriot official told The Associated Press but did not disclose further details.

It was not immediately clear when the deal was reached. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the agreement publicly.

The Cypriot energy ministry said in a statement Friday a letter from Chevron affirmed that both sides are in “alignment” regarding the “wider framework of the field’s exploitation.” The ministry added that they would “intensify discussions” in the coming weeks on the agreed-upon development plan “for the mutually beneficial exploitation” of the site.

Chevron wanted to send the gas to Egypt through a pipeline, but Cyprus preferred to process it on a floating production facility because it would be more economically beneficial for the Cypriot government and would lend more flexibility to supplying other markets.

The agreement ends protracted negotiations that stalled development of the field for years and now paves the way for extraction of the hydrocarbon after a dozen years since the deposit was discovered.
