It is a good aircraft, that is not the problem.

The problem is the US control. What if the US turns it unusable at a time we are at war?

The enemy would not even have to take any effort to cope with your air force.

Now some of you would say, why would our "ally" US do such. What if the enemy is Israel? (just a hypothetic question)

It is never wise to put your fate into the hands of others, even if it is an ally
There is for sure 'kill switches' on this dmflying computer , but what i am thinking is , Since Turkiye is top tech country and developing steath aircraft itself , What if remove f35 computers and softwares and replace them with Turkish ones ?? Is this possible ?
F35 should be disabled to every small parts , controlled and asebled again with Turkiah systems and computers , Other its junk aircraft that will work only agaist Iran and Russia and agaist noone else but we have good relations with both of them , We are opponent with israel & grecce which this aircraft will not work agaist them ....

Not possible, US does not even give access to maintain certain parts of the aircraft.

We should buy 40 F-35s instead of 40 F-16s if possible.

I guess TAF and TurAF thinks bigger as they should. 40 EF's, 40 F-16's and 40 F-35's. This strengthens our hands ideally.

150+ 4th gen fighter with a good low-high balance. 40 F-35's added to more than 200 Kaan's. F-35's as strategic weapons as long as US with us as it is in small numbers and capable of what the other aircrafts can not like launching US nuclear weapons (if we stay with the US in a low probability all-out WW3) while Kaan's build the main force with it's loyal wingmans.

As our rather good relations with both west and east would bring us FCAS/GCAP/SU-57/etc (depends on which side we are in the war) if we get in a trouble where our fleet and Kaan production quantities are not enough, we're building a good balance in 5th gen too. An overall 500+ fighter airforce with one of the best low-high balance and wide variety of suppliers including ourself.

I agree. The current US is not a reliable ally. Almost all of its allies, except Israel, do not trust it. Imagine that today Trump, a friend of Erdogan, allows the delivery of F35 to Turkey. And then Trump is followed by someone who is not a friend of Erdogan and refuses to deliver spare parts. What to do then?

As I stated in my post just above yours, F-35's in low numbers do not risk our security. Instead, it is a strategic weapon in good days (with US) and no problem for bad days because it is not the main force. And don't forget it won't make a shit for them to use kill-switch or spare part network against us when we have Kaan's. It is a good time friend for us that we have benefits but who we can delete when they decide it's not benefitial for them anymore (talking about F-35's not the US itself).

For Turkey, the F-35 is similar to Turkey's NATO membership. The F-35 is a plane that Turkey may need most to protect it from the F-35.

Best part of f35 was indıstry inclusion and experience to be gained along the way.

The money we would pay would come back with industry inclusion. Besides we would gain a good knowledge of edge technology use.

If we can return to the production and maintenance ecosystem, it will be worth it even if we can't use them as we like.

We can use F35 to compare Kaan and increase its capabilities.(like using F35 capabilities as a benchmark) In the meantime we will make money through maintenance and part production.

I think at this point using F35 in combat scenarios considerered as a bonus and not the main aim for procurement.

If Turkey should come back into the F-35 program and buy F-35 for whatever reason.
Then F-35B and F-35C for the aircraft carriers, for all other purposes it is useless as TAI KAAN replaces the F-35A.

10x F-35B
15x F-35C

TCG Anadolu 5x F-35B, 5x Kizilelma, 3x Anka 3, 10x TB3, 3x Helicopter

TCG Trakiya 5x F-35B, 5x Kizilelma, 3x Anka 3, 10x TB3, 3x Helicopter

Mugem 15x F-35C, 15x Kizilelma, 9x Anka 3, 20x TB3, 6x Helicopter

After all that’s been said and done, we must also remember that this is mainly a political gesture not to alienate ourselves and take a confrontational stance against St. Citrus 🍊
