Israel has always been hostile to Turkey.

Remember this is the middle east we are talking about. Nobody has loyalty to anybody apart from their tribe.

If Turkey and Israel clashed. Turkish jews would always back Israel against us.

Can you leave our Turkish citizens out of this please? We have millions of Turkish Arabs, Jews, Kurds.. who were always loyal for decades and centuries.

Wasn't it Mossad that helped us finding and locating Öcalan in Kenia, well I don't think that's an hostile act.

Now they back ypg and pkk.

Times have changed not to mention how they played a role in our F35s getting confiscated.

Turkey and Israel relationship from now on is going to be a love and hate one.

I disagree. Israel and Turkey have been backing each others opponents since relations went sour.

Erdogan hosted Hamas, Israel is at least publicly supporting YPG. Its both countries.

If Erdoğan and Bibi both resigned today, relations would be restored and we would be back on the wait list for F-35s.

Thats why we have been fighting Kurdish separatism for decades if not for centuries.

Loyal citizens yeah right. People on this forum underestimate tribalism and nationalism so bad. Thats why the Ottomans and the Austro-Hungarians collapsed they believed their diverse ethnic groups were loyal to them once they weakened and collapsed we seen how loyal they were.

Also in the Turkish independance war look up the Kocgiri rebellion and how the Kurds courted Allies support for a independant Kurdistan.

Without resolving S-400 issue there will be no F-35.

Could someone explain why all 5th gen fighters (designs) look the same/similar? Is it just a matter of reaching optimum aerodynamics?

The only plane that looks slightly different is the Tempest, although one could argue that it has a different design because its aimed at being a multi purpose 6th gen.

Same goes for cars. Everyone meets at the optimal aerodynamic(for jets also stealthy) design.

Why would I want to get back to the dark ages of Turkey where Turkey was a vassal state that can not claim its rights to be wealthy nation and get booby trapped by this time bomb of a plane called F35. That is as good as surrendering to the enemy. Bibi is nobody, he can be replaced overnight. Erdoğan is everything we can ask from a leader.

Turkey was never a vassal state, stop insulting the nation. Never in our history have we been vassalized. The closest we got to being vassalized was when the Ottoman government in Istanbul agreed to the treaty of Serves.

Our defence industry was restarted in the 70s and until it can support our needs 100% we need to play a smart game.

TCG Anadolu was built with the F-35B in mind. The Turkish military was looking forward to acquiring the F-35s. But due to multiple factors including Erdoğan's stupid foreign policy we got locked out.

Yes the USA uses YPG as a card against us. But If Erdoğan didn't make peace with PKK it never would've happened. From 2012 to 2015 YPG didn't have the backing it had today. We could've destroyed them in their infancy. Instead we watched as they grew day by day.

Just face it, we f*cked up and it's too late. Let me rephrase what I said earlier. Along with Erdoğan and Bibi leaving, we need to disintegrate YPG. I don't like the whole S-400 argument, as Greece has S-300s... But If that was what was required as well, then give them to Azerbaijan or Kazakhstan.

But let's forget that, it's far too late. It would be foolish as the Americans will pull another out another card out of nowhere. Goksungur should take the F-35s place for air-to-ground missions and the TFX will deal with air threats. Both should be better at what they do than the F-35.

Stop insulting the mind of the Turk.
You won't realize you are vassalized until the invaders tell you you are.
Every bit of the nation's institutions have been under invasion.
We had less than $4k income when Europe had $35k, how is this not having been vassalized.
A nation with no capable defense industry is a vassal state.

What you are suggesting is that we stay the slave.
Where is the sprit saying "freedom or death"

Bro the F35 right now is the most advanced plane. To be honest we do need it.

TFX and the F35 can easily complement each other. We cant sit back and allow our neighbours to get the edge.

Im not a mindless f35 fanboy who cries over the plane and believes the world will end that shit is childish. Still our airforce needs to have the edge if not we will be left behind.

S400 and the F35 its like comparing apples and oranges one is a air defence system and the other is a Plane. We need whatever that benefits the Turkish armed forces.

The F35 only benefits their sellers.
What we need to do is to come up with ways of beating it.

Turkey is to take delivery of 10 aircraft per year after they enter service in 2018, with 100 F-35s total on order. - wikipedia

With an average cost of $100 million per aircraft, Turkey was willing to spend $10bn in total. Seeing as they can no longer buy the fighter and they've purchased 4 batteries of the S-400 for $2.5bn, it would mean atleast 7.5bn would be available to spend - thats quite alot for R&D of Hurjet and TF-X. (Almost 40% of defence spending)

Yeah but Turkey also had a industrial participation in the F-35 programm worth ~ $12 billion. I anyways wanted that Turkey cancels F-35A orders and instead goes for F-35B and cash the rest.

After trashing so many Russian SAM with UCAV's alone, i think it was also a big mistake to buy S-400, i'd rather see the $2.5 billion flowing into national air defence projects.
