House of Representatives Armed Services Committee Chairman Adam Smith said in a webinar he attended at the Brookings Institution that the budget allocated to the F-35 fighter jet should be cut.

Throughout the webinar, he was actually talking about the reforms they wanted to make in defense spending. But I was intrigued by his saying "I don't want to bury money in that rathole for the F-35 program".

Thats not the only reason. Also they question the timing of this deal. After all Trump signed this deal in the last day in his term. There are serious doubts in USA about UAE's reach in Trump's White house cabinet.

I think it will be a very good decision to participate in any way in TEMPEST program also for Turkey. I think that program have very big potential and Turkey can get a lot from it. I will be glad if MMU could evolve to a TEMPEST variant configured especially for the Turkish needs with maximum national input. Some of the strongest airpowers aim to field 6th Generation fighters by 2030-2040. If we can make the move on that it will be a real game changer for Turkey. Turkey must pursue the chance for participation in that project partnering powers like the UK, Italy and Sweden.

The Singapore Ministry of Defense has confirmed that without ALIS, the brainchild of the F-35s, the aircraft can fly for a maximum of 30 days. These comments also show that a country that conflicts with US foreign policy cannot use the F-35.

US claims about f35 secrets being discovered by s400 if the two are in close proximity to each other, are actually proven by US themselves as wrong and actually ludicrous.
Export versions of S400 systems‘ sensor range is half of Russian version. As that is the case, the S400 batteries in Kaliningrad and Hmeymim must already have all the secrets they need.

With a new purchase order, the F-35 reaches its lowest cost yet.

In a way, for Turkey to get kicked out of the F35 program is a blessing in disguise. Never mind the ALIS system learning about your flight programme details etc. The main problem would have been the cost of maintaining this aircraft.
Current operating cost of a F35A is 44000 dollars per flight hour. For the life of the aircraft (8000 flight hours) this makes 352 million dollars on top of the 90 million dollar cost of the aircraft. 440 million dollars for each plane. We were planning to purchase 100 planes; That makes 44 billion dollars.
UK officials have cut down their purchase by 90 Saying that this plane would push the armed forces in to bankruptcy. Instead of 138 planes they are buying 48 F35B’s , 24 each for their two carriers. US it self is planning cuts in purchase numbers.
Recently the Greeks, having seen the cost of maintaining the plane, have backed down for their purchasing bid as well.
Technologically it probably is a very good plane. But it comes with too much excess baggage!

Explains why the Greeks opted for the Rafale.

F16, F15, Flankers, Fulcrums and the Fa18 hornets are still going to be used for decades.

Its hard to replace these proven work horses.

I just hope the TAI TFX avoids F35s mistakes by saying its the jack of all trades. Even with the TAI tfx will still need our F16s also the F4s can get their well deserved retirement.
