Guys, the engineer here is Selçuk Bayraktar. He is the guy who designed it. Who would better know? You or him ? So saying things like " it can't land on a carrier" or " it can't perform combat missions" are not up to you. They are designed it and they know what it can and cannot.

And maybe i am the guy who knows what can, or how it does land on TCG Anadolu moreover assesing it? Who knows? The possibility of he is guaranteeing that is lower than i am being the guy i have given as example.

They even haven't consulted it with Turkish Navy yet, neither with Technical department nor amphibious command. It is not even clear which command, either existing or will be created new, will govern govern the aircraft carried, amphibious? naval aviation? A new separate command for carrier group?

They conceptually present it, the details of TCG anadolu explains extend of their expertise on naval matters.

Treating someone's word like it's the word of god is a cultist mentality.

"Ipse Dixit" argument is a cultist argument.

You guys remind me of Elon Musk fanboys

Selçuk Bayraktar isn't God.

Neither is Musk

İsmail Demir himself is came with the UAV carrier idea as they say. So they should've been started to work together with Baykar.

Let's he and they are making some sort of PR.
What matters is Navy's opinion and decision, they make strategical plans, feasibility analysis, organization and operational plans. Not baykar or SSB.

The priorities are:
-Delivering TCG Anadolu as soon as possible
-Mastering primary amphibious role, operating attack helicopters and general purpose-airlift helicopters, ASW-ASuW helicopters.
-Mastering landing operations, in combination with LST, MAV, LCTs, SOF, Swimmer Delivery
-Mastering combined flotilla operations.
-Mastering simultaneous landing-take off, and command center duties.

There are several other things which will derail the subject, unnecessarily detailed for public which needs to be mastered before even concerning about making it a drone carrier. This will be a secondary duty,if offered in a feasible way, to accompany ISR missions (via MUMT-X similar ways) and advantage strikes on surprise targets. (however a real carrier would be able to operate a strategical amount of firepower up on air, for Anadolu it is rather a complemantary for amphibious assets)

So, calling it drone carrier is a good PR, Navy wants a real amphibious asset and a real carrier asset and needs both, a carrier is not a good as Anadolu amphibious asset. Wait a few years let the first flotilla sail through and then you will see&hear about the carrier publicly.

Probably TB3 is cancelled and they are putting all effort to MIUS. After 2024-25 Anadolu will receive some MIUS to support its operations. Maybe 15-20 MIUS. But I guess at least a couple hundreds of them are needed for air force.

Ok, let's close the forum then. We don't know if there is an industrial engineer in this forum who has designed a tank in his life, knows what will be better, and has managed to put an armored vehicle into mass production. As far as I know, hundreds of messages are sent from morning to night about what should be done, how to do it, where it is wrong, do you know better than BMC or SSB employee, do you speak?

The guys who designed the island class corvette, mostly got their master's degree from American elite universities, don't know what VLS is and you teach it to them? Why are you doing concept studies for the finished ship?

Everyone should and can voice his opinion. I myself join the opinion of other friends that Bayraktar knows what they are doing.

You base your opinion on small wing area but you forget that this is a drone, not a regular fighter aircraft that has much more weight. Less weight needs less wing area to beat stall speed.

Let us not throw opinions like certainties unless proven, wait for the real proto's. I have big thrust that Baykar will bring out something to be proud of.

People said UAVs will not be a force multiplier, will not be useful in a real war. These are all turned out to be wrong..

We can just wait and see what they will show us. I also trust Baykar to the end. They have the know-how.

TB3 is not being cancelled. Baykar likely right now doing virtually simulated tests, flight tests on land until Anadolu is ready for testing. Baykar's testing capabilities allows TB3 be developed fairly quick which is very impressive. TB3 should be able to land without needing big modification of the deck. Recovery system for TB3 probably going to be something that is easily mountable, lightweight.

Drones like TB3 and subsonic/supersonic MIUS will be able to provide good defensive cover to TCG Anadolu. But we mustn’t forget that, all but foremost, this is an LHD (Landing Helicopter Dock). Hence has to be treated and deployed as such. Even if we had access to F35B planes, it would not have detracted from the fact that she is a LHD. It is an amphibious war ship that can project force over long distances. It has landing crafts and tanks under it’s belly.
But the way we are thinking of deploying drones like TB3 and MIUS, will actually transform what this ship can do. As well as adding to it’s defensive posture, they will be a force multiplier and game changer in any conflict.
This in turn, will make the ship like a magnet for anti ship weapons. Every enemy ship and plane will want to try to sink it first In a conflict. We really need to think twice for the defence of this asset.

TB3's defensive capability would be intel gathering for early warning roles etc. TB3 doesn't require much infrastructure, uses common parts etc. If maintenance issues occur, like it has to go through more extensive maintenance maybe that there is no onboard capabilities to do it. TB3 can lift off and go to the closest airbase capable of doing maintenance to Baykar drones. We should strategically chose countries in our operational areas and give some capabilities to do such maintenance. Libya, Morocco, base in Somalia etc.

@Anmdt Dear is it TCG ANADOLU? We will see the ship in this configuration?

I've just listened Selçuk Bayraktar on TV news. He stated " MiUS TCG ANADOLU tipi gemilerden iniş kalkış yapabilecek"

He rather refers to STOBAR, by saying
'Anadolu tipi'.
MIUS can be made for Anadolu, but not sure if Anadolu is made for MIUS, it is heavier and has higher stall speed thus landing will not be possible with modular/add-on arrest wires as planned with TB3.

May I ask how you guys get the idea that landing is not possible? On what knowledge is this based?

We have a Selcuk Bayraktar who is saying that it will be possible, and some forumers who say it is not possible. I do not dismiss any claim but we have a clear professional opinion vs your opinions. I like to hear on what you base your opinion.

People are quick to make "professional" opinions on a hastily drawn render.

If the render was totally correct it would mean the TCG anadolu is sinking, the whole amphibious dock is drawn under water to begin with.

The render is clearly to give the idea of deck landing and take off capability, if you look too critically that ship cannot even float this way.

TB3 MTOW is going to be 1200 kg in total. MIUS is going to be in excess of 3500kg. It is difficult to use the same hydraulic arresting wire system for stopping both planes unless TB3 is extra strengthened or another method of varying the hydraulic pressure is found. Otherwise electromagnetic arresting wire system will be needed.
I listened to Selcuk Bayraktar’s video again;
First he says “Anadolu tipi” then he says it will take off and land on Anadolu. That means he has done his homework accordingly.
If you check out his educational background , it is impressive and he is special! He has been visiting and inspecting TCG Anadolu in recent months. Someone with his credentials will not and should not make unfounded statements.

Aselsan probably knew MIUS was coming.

MIUS concept design dates back to like 2016. MIUS is strategically important project. Different companies, institutions are involved with MIUS development. TAI probably will provide design assistance. TEI will develop engines. SAGE will help with integration of munitions. Universities help with developing AI etc.
