Turkish Aerospace works on arming Aksungur UAV with torpedo

Tayfun Ozberk 24 Feb 2023

The Aksungur MALE UAV from Turkish Aerospace was on display. It is equipped with a variety of payloads, including a sonobuoy pod for anti-submarine warfare (ASW). A mockup of the sonobuoy system, which is still being developed, was mounted on the drone as a pod.

The Turkish Armed Forces now employ Aksungur, a high-capability drone created by Turkey's defence sector. The Turkish Navy has been running Aksungur since October 2021. Its lengthy flight time of more than 60 hours makes it effective for both ISR missions and anti-submarine operations.

The sonobuoy pod of Aksungur UAV

Since roughly two years ago, Turkish Aerospace has been trying to equip Aksungur with a sonobuoy monitoring and launching system in an effort to improve Aksungur's performance in ASW. Three phases make up the project. In the first phase, it is anticipated that Aksungur will acquire sonobuoy monitoring capacity, enabling it to gather data from sonobuoys and transmit it directly to the control station. Processing the data gathered from the sonobuoys is done in the second phase. It will be able to deploy a real sonobuoy in the third phase, track and analyse the data, and transmit it to the other naval units.

The addition of a torpedo to the drone is the most unexpected change to Aksungur. Turkish Aerospace is attempting to attach an extremely light torpedo to the drone, according to Navy News. Officials from Turkish Aerospace assert that Aksungur will be capable of carrying out Maritime Patrol Aircraft properly once sonobuoys and torpedoes are fitted to it. The officials withheld project information while asserting that they are exploring their choices for the specifics of the new capacity.

24 ANKA SİHA orders from 3 countries to TAI

Anıl ŞAHİN 25 February 2023

 ANKA-IHA

Gendarmerie-ANKA

Algeria, Indonesia, and Chad made the decision to purchase ANKA SHA from Turkey. More than 20 orders for ANKA SHA have been placed from 3 different countries.

Turkish Aerospace Industries' (TUSA) ANKA Armed Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (SHA) keeps up its export performance. An agreement to supply was reached by ANKA SHA and TAI for 3 more nations. As a result, there are now 5 nations that are known to export ANKA.

SavunmaSanayiST.com learned from defence sources that Indonesia, Chad, and Algeria have chosen to purchase ANKA SHA from TAI. Indonesia ordered 12 ANKA SHAs, Algeria 10, and Chad 2. For this reason, TAI is quickly raising the ANKA production line's capacity. It is predicted that 24 ANKA orders from 3 nations will total more than $500 million.

Tunisia served as ANKA's first export client in 2020. For 80 million USD, the Tunisian Air Force provided 3 ANKA Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and 3 Ground Control Stations (YKI). Kazakhstan placed ANKA's second international order, this time for 3 pieces. With the aid of TAI, Kazakhstan intends to buy 30 more ANKAs and manufacture them locally.

On the other hand, the Malaysian Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein declared that TAI had been chosen as the supplier for ANKA SHA. Malaysia is expected to purchase 3 to 9 ANKA SHAs in the initial phase.

Moreover, TAI continues the export business that AKSUNGUR SHA started under ANKA. Thus far, AKSUNGUR has received orders from at least two nations.

Excitement levels for Anka-3?

"I saw it up close. It's really ugly, quite scary but also fascinating."

Ugly? According to what? These are relative concepts, what is ugly to you may be beautiful to me. Of course, there will be a general opinion among defense industry followers.

I think he's giving the wrong meaning here. It means, "Don't jinx it.

How do we know that Kızılelma Block2 rcs value is 0.005?

LpXkC5.png

(With the stealth-compatible low-detectable LO[12] geometry mentioned in the figures, the absence of a cockpit canopy, the concealment of the air intake ducts, the radar antenna tilt precaution and the geometric precaution of the wing + canard attack / trailing edges and the addition of a magnetic layer, and the black paint, which we consider to be radar absorbing, we can predict the head on RCS value of the Kızılelma as -10dBsqm = 0.1m2 for the Block1 version in terms of a safe calculation. The RCS of the Block2 version, which will be mounted on 7.5mm thick RAM panels tuned to 10GHz X band, is predicted as 0.005m2 in the sample calculation (Table-1). We will not publish the full graphical RCS detail analysis of Kızılelma.)

10GHz X band’a ayarlı 7.5mm kalınlıktaki RAM panelleri üzerine monte edilmiş hali ile oluşacak Block2 versiyonun RCS’i 0.005m2 olarak örnek hesapta öngörülmüştür (Tablo-1). Kızılelma’nın tam grafikli RCS detay analizini ise yayınlamayacağız.
Please provide an English translation as well.

By the way, Beyazıt Karataş and Fazil Altay have been systematically slandered and even accused of being ignorant by a few well-known social media writers recently. Subsequently, both this side developed a sarcastic tone against other in their posts on the issue. However, while they support their arguments with facts/news or near-factual predictions by discussing topics that no one has taken the time to sit down and write in detail, both on the KE and MMU, and on other combatant platforms on the TAF's agenda like F35 etc. Those who despise them still continue their anewliz with a 280 character limit.

-Nasıl vurabilir? Kafa kafaya yapılan yaklaşmada, ön cephede RCS’si 0.3m2 olan (hesabın emniyetli olması için 3 kat arttırılmış RCS kullandık)

-How can he hit? In the head-on approach, the RCS on the front façade was 0.3m2 (we used RCS increased by 3 times to ensure that the calculation was safe)

Should we also assume that KE Block 2 RCS is rather conservative?

Bullshit numbers. Neither radar detection range nor RCS values make sense, especially radar detection ranges.

I think this is the best guess.
