You make a good point here however as you illustrate it, swooping down to 2km or so means it will have to leave its safe zone up there, diminish its low RCS and radar signatures advantages only to be visible to the naked eye and plunge into, perhaps a “SAM Valley” or perhaps a carefully and densely located MANPADS zone.
Either case would end with the loss of the aircraft.
Also, even if we suppose a KE doing a strafe run from 2km above the intended target, its effectiveness would be dismal at best. Even with the programmed ammo from an auto cannon.
There are other “expandable“ platforms and will be more in TSK inventory for such missions.
That's true. Now that I think about it, MTOW for KE is only around 6 tonnes. There are no A2A suitable 30mm guns for that weight class anyway, so for sure it will be a 20mm caliber. Well anyway, the KE CAS dream was fun while it lasted.

Would it make a difference if the MTOW of KE was 8.5 tons instead.

Baykar Technology Leader Selçuk Bayraktar:

The Bayraktar TB2 UAV is currently known five times more than its closest competitor in the world.

Some have even called it the Kalashnikov of the 21st century.

It's not the most advanced, for example ANKA and AKINCI are more advanced.
"Where are the people who say Baykar doesn't like TUSAŞ?"

Baykar alone is able to produce 500 tb2 a year, Turkey doesnt want to be like USSR, when it spends all its money for army technology instead f developing the technology.
to give you an example, they have produced almost 20.000 tanks thinking nobody can do anything once they have it, guess what, later Nato coud penetrate it using 30mm gun or even TB2 is good example as how easy targets they were..
I agree that Turkey needs to order as many anka3 and KE as possible, however, there is a navy waiting for ships, which Turkey produce 3 ships at the same time, there is Altay Tank need 100 order a year which this alone could be 1 billion $ a year and so on,
I think Turkey does the right one, export as many as you can and that way push up the production. it might reveal some tech but there are so much new tech out there that once you are the fronter, you can just keep that trend.
if Turkey sells Akinji to Egypt, it means there is something going on on politics side, as SA and UAE also improve its relations with Turkey, they also understand that Turkey could heart them a lot, may be RTE doesnt do anything now as looking at them a muslim brother, but a new government could turn it to hell.
just imagine that a single Iranian drone made Saudi Arabia loose its 25% exports. any oil producing country is a glass door that you can hurt them a lot. Thats why when Iran act like it will attack Azerbaijan, its just funny to me.

Total war era that was so rife in the cold war is now obsolete.

Usa just like the Soviet Union has an overbloated armed forces and overbloated budget.

Difference between both is that usa can afford compared to the Soviets and Russians.

Americans have been slowly drawing down the overbloated armed forces of all branches and is using Technology to be more efficient and effective.

Era of 1 million soldiers and era of thousands of tanks are over. I dont believe a World War 3 will happen.

Even if it did I dont think we will see millions of soldiers as technology will be used to be more efficient and effective especially to cut the years short.

Mete Yarar:
BAYKAR has been under Israel's surveillance since the day it was founded. They even wanted to buy the Company.
Why?
Because Baykar had swarm UAV software that no one else had. The world's first swarm iha software written by Selçuk Bayraktar at MIT (MIT: Massachuset Instutie of Technologies).
Some people keep trying to throw mud by saying groom, I wish I had such a son-in-law.

Isn't it amazing how Kızılelma makes show flights at Teknofest already while it is only a few months back when it made its first flight.

Mete Yarar is right numerous scientists and engineers especially in the Islamic World died in suspicious circumstances. Especially who remembers numerous Aselsan engineers who died in suspcious circumstances.

Im thinking if Selcuk Bayraktar did not get proper protection or getting watched they would have killed him off.

Aka Mossad of course.

lets not get carried away, the guy made a small tactical drone, where most of the parts were initially sourced from the western world, despite him claiming otherwise. He didn't invent a 7th gen fighter jet with all technologies made by him and his company.

If Baykar didnt exist we still have TAI who make great drones too.

The elevation of Baykar is because of how drones were deployed by the Turkish military in Syria, tie this into favourable political conditions of being erdogans son in law, his drones get pushed harder then the TAI drones. If the Turkish conflicts never take place, TB2 remains a good small/mid sized tactical drone, nothing revolutionary, nothing extra special but a good drone.

and if Turkish scientists were truly worried about being assassinated, they don't go and study outside feto headquarters in Pennsylvania like seljuk did.

You dont get it Mossad and CIA have done this so many times.

If you cant get them to work for you might as well kill them.

Israel has always got that quality edge as they kill the scientists and engineers of their rivals.

Mossad even killed Western scientists that were in Egypt and Iraq.

It aint a conspiracy I thought it was until you find out so many Aselsan engineers getting killed and ruled as accidents or suicide.

Aselsan is a different story, a giant company with the potential to develop or discover things few companies on earth can. Baykar manufactures standard armed drones and their hero product in the beginning was predominantly assembled using western parts.

TB2 is a small/mid sized tactical drone, Akinci is a bigger drone. Neither is mind blowing stuff. Yeah both are good drones and both have been good for Turkiye and the Baykar company is doing good business. But these style of drones have existed for decades prior. Even with most parts being made domestically, next to none of it is produced by Baykar from the engine to the avionics.

Kizel elma has the potential to be something truly special, but im of a similar opinion to other posters on here that at the moment its just a tech demo. It currently looks far too underpowered to succeed as some kind of hunter drone. But i suspect a more powerful engine, maybe dual engine varient and software similar to the software the americans displayed against a real fight pilot and it will be a success.

Yes Mossad is know to assassinate scientists, but Seljuk is not really inventing anything. They take existing technologies and repackage it into something that is greater then the sum of its parts.

Its not a fair comparison, but when you see the TFX, the Stealth drone from TAI you realise the massive gap between Baykar and TAI. If Mossad is going to go after anyone its going to be people working at TAI and Aselsan.
