You can not compar Alpagu with cheap drones, it is a kamikaze drone what can fly in formation and attack airdefence systems like spaag.

What? It has 10 kms of range, 15 minutes endurance and 300 grams warhead, how is it going to attack air defence exactly? You guys are either confusing it with Alpagut with T, or really misinformed about it. Even STM doesn't claim what you wrote.

For further clarity, this is Alpagu: https://www.stm.com.tr/en/alpagu

And this is Alpagut: https://www.roketsan.com.tr/tr/urunler/alpagut-akilli-dolanan-muhimmat-sistemi

Completely different products with waaaaaaay different profiles.

First Kargu have better specs and the explosive payload is 1.3 kg, you can add different payload like a HE-fragmentation warheads. Like the drones in Ukrains, Lancet is a good example 12 kg drone and Kargu is something like Lancet. Kargu can hover in the air and attack when it see the enemy.

Lancet in Ukraine against Iris, what can 1/3 kg explosion can do?

For a bigger warhead thing there was the forgotten blessing called ASELSAN VİHA.

It isn't only carrying a larger warhead at 3.5 kg. Its diving speed also reaches about 250+ km/h, far more than KARGU.

It can be folded down and recovered smoothly

Up up up.

I hate the word" game changer " but those are really changing engagement doctrines .

I think this VİHA will become new Carl Gustaf or RPG-7 of the platoons.

Do you mean Alpagut? Because Alpagu is STM's drone with less than 0.5 kg warhead, so it is 1/3 of Kargu. Alpagut is Roketsan and STM's combined product and it hasn't started serial production yet.
Isn't alpagu close to switchblade sorry for my Ignorance.

That explains why Kargu despite hitting targets has not really done so many casualties.

What is really the aim of the kargu?

Could Kargu just be more of an experiment just for STM to improve its products?

To be fair, there's a merit to merely wounding a solider.

You kill a man, you tie up one solider. You wound a man, you tie up multiple soliders. One to drag him to a safe place, one to tend to his wounds, etc.

That's the reason NATO switched from 7.62 to 5.56, is it not?

No, 5.56 was easier to train soldiers and you could carry more ammo, you don't need 7.62 in everywhere. What you said is a myth created by people who has no idea about weapons.

Such systems have to be simple and cheap don't understand why we are complicating things so much. Take a FPV drone slap a RPG-7 warhead or Mortar shell on it and it's good to go.

Those weaponized toys terrorized the RuAF on the battlefield, they took IFV, APC and Tanks out with those things ffs and then look at Kargu, LOL.

If the electronics on it have a low ECCM (electronic warfare resistance level), the enemy can easily eliminate it. That's why thousands of Ukrainian kamikaze drones are failing on the front lines today. This is not just a cheap kamikaze incident. It must be compatible with the needs of the front line (navigation, camera, artificial intelligence, etc.). You can't get these on e-bay.

Not just that too the Americans also tried to impose their standardisation on every Nato country incase total war comes against the Soviets so the logistical system does not get overwhelmed.

Even the smaller Switchblade has 5 or 6 times more payload than Alpagu, can't remember the exact number, with more range and endurance. So, it is more like a cheap knock-off really.

It has been exported to 10 or more countries, with Turkish military buying hundreds itself, I doubt it is as useless as people are making it out to be here, not it is just an experiment. It is a completely different class of drone than Lancet, for example. Right now, it is a recon drone that can also strike targets of opportunity, namely foot soldiers. The biggest problem with it in its current role, imo, is that it has too few fragments in it. One look at MKEK's fragmentation grenade shows that it has twice as many fragments in it.

But in general, I think people here are reaching to conclusions way too quickly. I can find photos of Lancets caught in nets or failed to explode but it doesn't mean they are not useless. While I agree a drone with bigger payload, whether it is anti-armour or anti-personnel, would be much better, Kargu must be doing something right for it to keep selling.

Nobody in our neighbourhood has such EW systems and Hamas just recently proved that not even the IDF has prepared itself for such threats. And it's safe to say that more than 3/4 of the militaries worldwide aren't prepared for such type of drones.

If winning or losing the war at the front becomes dependent on this, someone will eventually have to develop a solution to this problem.
