"STM has introduced its new fixed-wing vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle; with a two-hour flight time and a 30 km range, the UAV offers reconnaissance and surveillance missions as well as attack capabilities with smart munitions such as TUNGA and KARGU.
The new UAV has a two-hour endurance, a 30-kilometer range, and a 10-kilogram payload. In addition to land-based missions, the platform can also launch from naval platforms.
The system, notable for its offensive capabilities, can carry two TUNGA smart munitions developed by STM or the KARGU FPV kamikaze UAV. It can also be equipped with four 81mm mortar rounds.
The TUNGA ammunition was unveiled alongside a VTOL UAV at the IDEF 2025 trade fair. The free-fall ammunition, featuring an AI-supported optical seeker, can hit targets up to 200 meters away when released from an altitude of 800 meters. Compared to conventional mortar ammunition, it offers a higher accuracy rate, particularly against moving targets."
Now, 10 kg is not a bad number for a vtol, and opens up interesting possibilities, imo, if it can be implemented. For example, can it also carry 6 Metes? Or, how much does Karaok weigh by itself and can it be fired from this? What about M72s our army loves, can we modify it so that it can carry two M72s instead?
