IMO, ban of VISA's is very very bad idea. Advocates of the VİSA ban argue that traveling to EU territory is not a right, but a privilege. This is a completely arrogant and racist approach. It is an attitude that will sound the alarm for us Turks. It gives the most obvious signals that an EU with this mentality will be a very bad neighbor.

I certainly wouldnt invite or tolerate any pro-war russians entering my own house. I would ban them from entering. Does that make me arrogant and racist?

If it was a 'right' for all human beings to go wherever they please, regardless of their beliefs or actions, then why do VISA systems even exist in the first place?

Feels to me like a perfectly understandable idea, and a smart way to increase the pressure on the Putin regime and cause more of his people to turn against him.

You can't know whether they would be pro or anti war. It's not like you're gonna ask them when they apply for a visa. Even if, they could lie.

true, but it looks as though it is safe to say that the majority of Russians at the moment are pro war / pro Putin, and so if a minority of peace loving Russians have to miss out on european holidays and trips so that the pressure can be increased on Putin, then so be it. I'm surprised some feel that it isnt a price worth paying

We're looking for a ban on tourist visas, not all visas. And what the EU is currently doing is even less than that - it is currently eliminating a visa agreement that gives a simplified procedure for tourist visas to Russians.
