Guessing what could happen if Ukraine accepts it:

-RU blows a pair of apartments in Donets/Luhansk and blames UKR for it.
-Orders another mobilization.
OP responded to Putin's statement about a "ceasefire"

A "temporary truce" for the Russian Federation will come only after it withdraws its soldiers from Ukraine, noted Mykhailo Podolyak.

A temporary truce is possible only after Russia withdraws from the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories. Ukraine, unlike an aggressor country, does not attack foreign lands and does not kill civilians, but only Russian invaders. This was announced by the adviser to the head of the Office of the President Mykhailo Podolyak on his Twitter account on Thursday, January 5.

"First. Ukraine does not attack foreign territory and does not kill the civilian population, as the Russian Federation does. Ukraine only destroys members of the occupation army on its territory..."

Second. Russia must leave the occupied territories - only then will a "temporary truce" begin. Leave the hypocrisy to yourself," he wrote.

America will not send m1a2 abrams mbt to its ukrainian brothers due to TECHNICAL REASONS. They are so shameful. we never matched.

Anyway, Ukraine is not important. The important thing is not to draw the charisma of m1a2 mpt. Russians blow up Abrams' tower or something, then nobody in the world buys Abrams.

Just when the new model of abrams will be released.

Not only will the USA send Bradley's to Ukraine, it's going to be announced to tomorrow as part of $3 Billion dollar aid package for the Ukrainians. Bradley's aren't that expensive fella's. This is going to be a substantial, tasty package.

Also, of important note, not only has Germany agreed to send its Marder IFVs to Ukraine, even more importantly, they've approved the transfer of a Patriot Missile Battery to Ukraine, matching the American donation from a couple weeks back. Air defense is crucial for Ukraine right now and the Patriot system is among the best systems they currently have. Having 2 is much better than 1. 2-3 more (as they train crews during the coming year) could make an ENORMOUS difference.

Since Russians thought they killed 36 Turkish soldiers they thought they could have gotten away by sinking Grain ships under Turkish protection.

Now imagine if the Russians pulled this off while the world goes through shortages the biggest international scandal and a stupid blunder.

And to think the Russians had intentions of doing it before backing down shows you cant reason with a Wild Bear.

Russia will likely never regain its pre-24th February strength. Losses here and there will ensure a downward trend of strength.

It will still be considered strong for a European power. But that's irrelevant.
Russians can develop their weapons technologically, not numerically. I don't like this possibility.

They are probably planning and working on this even while they are at war.

They've already started working on guided bombs.

I think people who follow military news have been following Russia's modernisation plans. Which have been going on for decades.

Their newest standard issue rifle the Ak12 even sucks due to corruption.

Still irrelevant, guided bombs are not new, Russian VKS has already employed those since 2015 in Syria (against rebels with no AD systems). Deploying those will only have minimal effect on the general situation. The thing is, guided bombs still meant that VKS CAS planes would need to fly deep into Ukraine's contested airspace, where local medium to high altitude air defense crew are eagerly waiting.

One more thing : Russian pgm like the Kab 500 SE has only like 5000m flight ceiling. Compare this to a JDAM flight ceiling of 13000+m .

So i don't think even local ukrainian starstreak crew will have any problem with JDAM-ski armed Su-34

What Russia lacks is the industrial base to mass produce weapons, the ease of access for key weapons components that they were procuring from the West, and the general lack of skill in creating weapons systems that adequately compete with Western weapons. Virtually every weapon system they have is an inferior answer to what the West (namely the United States) produces.

What Russia has going for it is that it's not a real democracy and there are no checks and balances regarding how Putin spends Federal money. Hell, they can straight up just seize assets from their own populous if they want to do. Anyone who fights back or is a serious critic of the regime, goes to jail, or has an "unfortunate" accident that costs them their life.

Russia will have access to plenty of funds to keep the war effort going. They'll bleed their own country dry to see that reality. But make no mistake about it, Russia is not going to make any major technical innovations of weapons that will close the gap with what the West is providing Ukraine. Hell, Ukraine is inflicting a monstrous toll on the Russian Army, with the West's outdated equipment. The newest American weapons technology is 10-20 years ahead of their Russian counterparts. That's the product of one country spending $800+ billion on defense every year, while the other spends $60'ish billion. We're talking about two different worlds... And that's just a USA and Russian comparison. 30 Western countries are providing Ukraine with equipment and at least another half dozen are providing their weapons through third parties.

Russia's military tactics have not sufficiently evolved from WWII. They've tried, but when push comes to shove, they're right back to Zerg rushing their adversary and sending their citizens to the slaughter as meat shields. Meanwhile, the West's focus are devastating, pin point accurate, destructive, conventional weapons, that leave the Russians little chance. Take HIMARS for example. 16 of them (along with some M270s) essentially changed the whole conflict. The Russians literally have no answer for the range and accuracy of GMLRS, a munition that the United States are about the phase out, in favour of a longer range, higher speed variant.

There literally isn't a Russian system (MAYBE the S400) that is more capable than what the West can give the Ukrainians, when they're done clearing out their stockpiled, retired equipment.

Russia has already lost this war, they simply haven't admitted it yet. The West is happy to continue to fund it, because this is cheapest price (both in terms of money and blood) that the NATO and its allies will ever get to destroy the Russian army for a generation and damage the Russian economy for a generation.

Russian systems are soooo far behind modern American tech, it's not even funny. Can you imagine what would happen if AWACS enabled / Data linked F-35s and F-22s were to come up against Russian military aircraft with Garmin GPS systems on board?

I mean this as seriously as one could ever say it. The Russian aircraft would not even know they were in a fight before it would be all over. It would be like watching some peasant farmers to to take on something from Star Wars.
