Talk about being a “decisive enabler”:
India has increased its imports of Russian oil by approximately 1,800% since before the war in Ukraine began.

— While India's increase was substantial, China only increased its Russian oil imports by 43% during the same period.
— India's increased imports have compensated for almost 70% of Russia's revenue loss from the European Union.
— India's purchases have put $37 billion into Moscow's coffers, undermining Western sanctions aimed at isolating Russia economically.
I hope EU is prepared to sanction everyone at this moment.

Norway 🇳🇴 has agreed to transfer an IRIS-T SLM air defense battery to Ukraine in cooperation with Germany 🇩🇪. The battery will arrive in Ukraine during the fall.

While a step down from Patriot and SAMP/T, Iris-T is extremely accurate and easily intercepts Russian cruise missiles and drones. It's simply not ballistic missile interceptor.

The Czech Republic 🇨🇿 have quietly delivered 30,000 RPG-75M to Ukraine. The transfers have not previously been announced and they are expected to continue into the future as the Czechs produce them domestically in large quantities.

Forbes magazine reported Russia's superiority in artillery in the war in Ukraine. As Forbes notes, Russia and Ukraine have different strategies, but there is one aspect that remains the same: both sides rely heavily on artillery. In this area, Russia has a clear advantage. According to Forbes, Russian troops fire approximately 10,000 rounds per day, while Ukrainian forces fire about 2,000. Russia uses a combination of Soviet-era self-propelled guns, such as the 2S19 Msta-S, and newer systems, notably the 2S33 Msta -SM2". In addition, Russia has established production of up to 250 thousand shells per month. Now on the battlefield, the Russian army uses not only artillery systems designed in the USSR, but also those already developed in Russia. Ukraine uses Soviet self-propelled guns, one of them is the 2S3 Akatsiya, and new self-propelled guns provided by NATO are the American M109 Paladin self-propelled guns, the British AS-90 and the French CAESAR. Forbes reported that such a large number of different equipment has become a problem for Ukraine. The Ukrainian army is heavily dependent on supplies of shells for Western equipment, which it does not produce itself.

Details of the $50 Billion usd loan to Ukraine that will officially be announced in the fall, have emerged. The loan will be repaid via interest collected from Russia's frozen assets. The breakdown of the loan is as follows:

USA 🇺🇸 $20 Billion usd
European Union 🇪🇺 $20 Billion usd
Britain 🇬🇧 $3.33 Billion usd
Canada 🇨🇦 $3.33 Billion usd
Japan 🇯🇵 $3.33 Billion usd

Kyiv will receive the loan by year's end and 90% of the money is earmarked military use, while 10% is earmarked for humanitarian use.

Note: This loan is separate from the multi year, $40 Billion usd funding that the EU announced for Ukraine previously. That aid will continue as planned.

Rarely do we get information regarding Ukrainian and Russian brigades being trained and what they're being equipped with. We hear about equipment donations, and Russian production, but we rarely know exactly who gets what. Here is rare example of a Ukrainian brigade that will be trained in France throughout the fall and what they'll receive for equipment has been reported in exact numbers.

The Brigade will be mechanized and will consist of 2100 personnel. They will train for numerous months in France and return to Ukraine in late 2024 to deploy. The brigade will be mechanized and they will receive the following French equipment.

- 24 AMX-10RC light tanks
- 128 VAB APCs
- 18 CAESAR 155mm howitzers
- TRM and Renault Logistics trucks
- Milan ATGMs
- AT4 anti-armor rockets
- Counter battery radars

This will be a reasonably equipped brigade. Hopefully USA 🇺🇸, Germany 🇩🇪 and Britain 🇬🇧 can do something similar.

The Ukrainian army published footage of attempts to intercept Russian Mi-8 and Mi-35 helicopters with FPV drones; the drone models were not disclosed. According to experts, it is difficult for FPV drones to shoot down a helicopter due to the difference in speeds and powerful air flows from the rotors. In addition, FPV drones have a weak automatic stabilization system; it is not designed for powerful wind currents and cannot stabilize the drone’s flight. It is worth noting that there is a possibility of destroying a helicopter if the drone flies towards the helicopter on a collision course and dives down, or uses remote detonation of ammunition.

Britain 🇬🇧 has agreed loan Ukraine 🇺🇦 $2.6 Billion usd to purchase its own weapons. The Brits have all but admitted that they are running low on weapons to send Ukraine from their existing inventories, and would rather loan them cash that they can use to purchase weapons for around the world to fund their war effort.

The term of the loan is 15 years and it's said to have a favorable interest rate, however, the exact rate was not disclosed.

Big development for Ukraine that I've been calling for. They have officially announced that they are going to allow foreign pilots and aircraft maintainers to join the Ukrainian Air Force. This is imperative to maximize the use of the F-16 fighter jets they're going to receive. As it stands, Ukraine will only have 15-20 pilots qualified to fly the F-16 by the end of the summer. Ukraine is set to receive at least 85 F-16s by the end of 2025, and requires 160-180 pilots to fly them. However, it's expected to take approximately 3 years for the West to fit that many Ukrainian pilots into their training pipeline. By the end of 2025 Ukraine should have 80-100 pilots trained to by F-16s and will need help from foreign pilots in the meantime.

Here is the good news. There are thousands of retired American and European F-16s pilots out there that can help Ukraine. Many of them are in the 45-55 year old range and still fit to fly, but have retired from their respective air forces and are now collecting their pensions. It would be extremely cost effective for Ukraine to pay foreign pilots a lucrative sum of money while their own pilots get trained up. $250,000 usd for a 1 year contract would attract many interested candidates. You only need 40'ish pilots to sign on in 2024 to fly the aircraft that Ukraine will receive. It would cost Ukraine approximately $10 million to pay for that highly valuable cadre of specialists. Hell, there are plenty of countries that are out of military hardware to send Ukraine that could easily foot a bill of that size on Ukraine's behalf.

Certainly not a silver bullet, but a huge boost in Ukraine's push for for parity in the skies over the battlefield.

Really interesting geopolitical scenario between Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Hungary 🇭🇺. Although part of the European Union 🇪🇺, Hungary is alligned with Russia and Russian interests in the war. As such, they are currently blocking a $7.9 Billion usd tranche of aid from the European Peace Facility For Ukraine. $5 Billion of that aid is earmarked for macro financial needs and $1.5 Billion is earmarked for the purchase of weapons.

Ukraine 🇺🇦 has now retaliated in a big way. 70% of Ukraine's oil and gas is provided by Russia and 50% of that is provided by Lukoil, via a pipeline that partially transits through Ukraine. The Ukrainians have now sanctioned Lukoil and shut off 220,000 barrel per day pipeline to Europe, which disproportinately impacts Hungary due to their reliance on it for Russian oil. The Hungarians are now staring down the barrel of huge cost spikes in electricity and gasoline, as shortages mount. Hungary's strategic reserve only has several weeks worth of fuel to make up the gap, before it starts to become a national emergency.

Well played by Ukraine! Screw Viktor Orban and the Hungarians. They've been a thorn in the EU's side since the outset of the war, blocking or delaying 41% of EU's initiatives for Ukraine. It will be nice to see them squirm and suffer for a little while as natural consequence to them helping Russia. Being landlocked and unable to receive oil by sea is a major issue for Hungary!

IMPORTANT: French and British soldiers killed in Ukraine! “I asked for confirmation and they told me that it is accurate. So, the Russians carried out an attack on Odessa, which killed 18 members of the British Special Air Service and injured 25 more. And they tell me that French soldiers died, not mercenaries who are French, no, these are soldiers of the French army. They were killed in large numbers.” — Colonel of the Spanish Army Reserve Pedro Baños

This is what North Atlantic Alliance spokesperson Farah Dahlalla told CNN in an interview.

- NATO spokesperson Farah Dahlalla said, “Since 2014, NATO has undergone the most significant transformation in our collective defenses in a generation. We have implemented the most comprehensive defense plans since the end of the Cold War, and more than 500,000 troops are now on high alert.”
