First I've heard of any additional F-16s taken out, skeptical on that personally. But they definitely lost the one and its (apparently very senior/decorated) pilot though, Ukrainians and western media are reporting that now too.

Sounds like probably either friendly fire, or he collided with one of the incomings he was trying to shoot down, doesn't seem like a Russian downing.

At any rate, like with the rest of the war the pilot's more valuable than the airframe, they need every flight-trained human they can get. Sounds like he was top-tier among their pilots too, so a pretty fucky day for them it seems.

Unfortunately NATO just wants to weaken Russia, not to desintegrate it. This is why they are not helping Ukraine sufficiently and are not allowing it to strike in Russia using the donated missiles. I just hope that the situation will evolve in a way that Russia’s collapse will become inevitable despite NATO not trying to achieve that.

I agree with you that many European leaders made big mistakes in their relationship with Russia, especially when it comes to Germany, Austria and Hungary. They thought Russia could be a partner, and they thought Putin was a rational person. They were wrong, and the warnings about Russia’s revisionist aims were right.

But the past is the past, and mistakes can’t be undone. At least now, there seems to be more consensus in Europe about the need to help Ukraine and weaken Russia. There are still traitors like Orban in Hungary, but most of the EU is in agreement that Putin is an enemy and there is no going back to the past friendly relationship.

Hopefully the EU will remain focused and will help Ukraine achieve victory. The US cannot be relied on too much, as they have thier own interests and may change their policies anytime.

USA has placed an order with Lockheed Martin to purchase approximately 20,000 GMLRS rockets, including the new GMLRS-ER version which is expected to double the range out close to 150 km. The purchase is valued at $3.43 Billion usd and deliveries will begin immediately and will be completed sometime in 2027. Lockheed is currently producing approximately 6000 GMLRS units per year and they are in the process of expanding production significantly.

This is important for Ukraine because GMLRS has been among Ukraine's most valuable mid range strike strike weapons. They are extremely accurate and hard to intercept when launches from HIMARS and M270s. This new order will replenish U.S. inventories and allow USA to continue to send healthy quantities of the rockets to Ukraine.

It is unknown what models of drones and what suspension for spraying the mixture are used. Initially, it was assumed that a substance similar to napalm was sprayed, but at the moment, the composition of the incendiary mixture is not reported. It is known that the flammable mixture is difficult to extinguish.

The video of the interception of the M142 HIMARS MLRS rocket was filmed in the Kursk region of Russia. The M31A1 rocket is a difficult target for air defense, since the RCS of the M31A1 projectile is presumably about 0.07 square meters, and it also has a high flight speed. The air defense crew must make a decision and intercept the target within a short period of time. The M31A1 HIMARS MLRS rocket was detected at a range of about 10 km and shot down at a range of 6,200 meters. Two 57E6 Pantsir-S1 air defense missiles were needed to intercept the target.

The UK announced that they have purchase 120,000 152mm artillery shells for Ukraine. The price was nearly $400 million usd. Deliveries will take place throughout the remainder of 2024 and 2025.

While 155mm shells are most important because they are the NATO standard shell and superior to the 152mm shell used in Eastern Europe, Ukraine still has many 152mm artillery systems and producers such as Bulgaria , Poland and The Czech Republic have the capacity to build build new shells for those systems.

USA will provide JASSM cruise missiles to Ukraine as previously suspected. They are expected to be announced in a military aid package for Ukraine this coming fall.

Ukraine badly needs these stealthy cruise missiles to supplement the Stormshadow cruise missiles sent by Britain , France and Italy . Those missiles are in short supply, where as the United States has thousands of JASSMs and build 650+ units per year. With the introduction of the JASSM-ER into the U.S. arsenal, they now have dozens of disposal conventional JASSMS that can be sent to Ukraine to supplement ATACMS and Stormshadow in terms of long range strike capability.

Though Kyiv still considers its HIMARS rockets valuable, but Russian jamming can cause them to miss a target by 50 feet or more. “When it’s, for example, a pontoon bridge … but there’s a 10-meter deviation, it ends up in the water,” another Ukrainian official said.

A battalion commander, speaking on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to do so publicly, described flying a reconnaissance drone in foggy conditions last year in Bakhmut to track a HIMARS strike on a Russian position. On his screen, the commander watched in dismay as each rocket missed.

Germany has upped its commitment of IRIS-T air defense systems for Ukraine. They will now send the Ukrainians 24 systems between 2024 and 2026. 12 Medium range IRIS-T SLM and 12 short range IRIS-T SLS systems have been ordered.

4 more systems will arrive in Ukraine by the conclusion of 2024, giving Ukraine 11 systems in total. The remaining 13 systems will arrive throughout 2025 and 2026.

well, himmars with those iron balls in it, still gave lot of shit for RU force. Until now there was no single game changer weapon in UA -RU beside the Himmars.
