It should not be surprising that when a country is attacked by another country and is partially occupied by it, the country continues to resist even if it is gradually losing more and more of its territory. If the cost of peace is subjugation to a foreign power, many will reject surrender and peace.

But it's not subjugation it's a fair and just peace with safety guarantees when you see that you will start losing even more in the future so it's best to quit when you still have a say in it.

Just look at Turkish/Russian relations over Syria. Every agreement, every deal was broken by Russia. Not only when it was broken they took great enjoyment in humiliating the Turks over it. The agreement was that the Turks would provide their co-ordinates so the Russians know not to hit their positions. Turks provide those co-ordinates, the Russians then use them to bomb Turkish troops. They then say to the Turks they can't use the airspace, so ambulances are sent by land much slower to get their. Once they get their they bomb the ambulances and kill more, its then shown and celebrated on Russian TV.

Unfortunaty for the Russians that moment caused the idlib retalition. That kept the current opposition alive who would go on to send the Russians packing from syia in their totality, another defeat for the super power. Another great strategic blunder for 4d chess putin.

When dealing Russians you got to smash them at every opportunity, only a fool who knows nothing of history thinks you can have sensible dialogue with them. Obviously the war is hurting Russia and its economy and the people and they are losing alot of soldiers, but Ukraine just has a much lower ceiling in terms of this and will struggle more and more no matter the support they get, its just facts, people can hope all they want but if Ukraine was in a great position and thinking they can actually win the war, Zelensky would not be saying they can't handle another year of war and that the war needs to end this year.

For example, a country like Uzbekistan with a nominal GDP/capita of around $3,000 would be easily discarded as dirt poor if you look at statistics alone. However, if you visit the country you will notice they live exactly like in Europe, only that their cities are cleaner and they don’t have beggars and homeless people.

If you want to understand the world, you should strat traveling instead of looking at almost meaningless statistics.

And life in Greece is generally better than in most of Europe.

So ratio is 3 to 1. in Ukraines favor. Men power ratio is lower, but also in Ukraine favor by all estimates.

People in the Balkans and in Eastern Europe tend to always complain about their lives, jobs, goverments, countries, etc. It is a cultural thing. We could be the wealthiest people in the world, but we would still complain about how bad we have it. We always look at the half empty part of the glass, and ignore the half full part.

If someone doesn’t work and just enjoys life, he would complain about being poor. If someone works in a very good job and earns a lot of money, he would complain about not having a life and being a slave. It’s a cultural thing to self-victimize. Even if your Greek friends would have it better than you, they would still complain and tell you how hard life it is in their country.
