US Navy Awards BAE $137M C5ISR System Support Contract

The US Navy has awarded a $137 million contract to British aerospace firm BAE Systems to support the service’s command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C5ISR) systems.

The C5ISR is an integrated and networked system that enhances the military’s decision-making and situational awareness, especially on complex, challenging missions.

The agreement stipulates the provision of post-fielding support and sustainment, and in-service engineering for the C5ISR system. The firm will also reportedly provide a wide range of technical upgrades, benefiting the military and several US government defense facilities.

Additionally, the five-year contract requires BAE Systems to facilitate the training of military personnel and assist them in familiarizing themselves with the capabilities of the system.

According to BAE Systems vice-president Lisa Hand, the company’s technology experts are willing to help the US Navy adapt and maintain a tactical edge amid evolving threats.

“Our deep C5ISR sustainment experience, skilled workforce, and in-place resources positioned us well to recompete for this important work,” she said in a press release. “Warfighters will benefit from high system availability and increased capability to solve complex problems.
