I agree, but that path is not without risk also, GB when needed amd pressured will step out in favour of USA policy, really hard to plan longterm cooperation aknowledging that fact.
It is always a risk when it comes to defence cooperation and Turkey is involved. We also received information about pressure on the Ukrainian side when it comes to joint projects in the past few years. The most secure way would be completely indigenous and domestic design and development but it will take to much time and it is also risky job without the needed know how. In that time frame our air forces will have troubles and the development of TFX is a critical question when it comes to the security of Turkey in the skies. We have to be realistic about it. Development of such a fighter is not an easy job and with the vision of Turkey and its goals for power projection we can not let our air force to be lacking behind the air forces of at least our neighbours if we want to be the sole regional power.
While we have very promising developments in the sensors, munitions, avionics and we also have some know how when it comes to the frame manufacturing we lack behind when it comes to the design and propulsion. British help will be very appreciated and will be a major boost to the program. With the assistance of BAE Systems and Rolls Royce we can make miracles. If they are pressured which I personally don't think will happen because I believe the UK also have strategic interest in cooperation with Turkey we can always continue with the know how obtained by them and in all cases it will be a win-win.
Hurjet is also in development. With Hurjet we will obtain some know how but it is not a comparable project to the scale of TFX.
We need assistance in order to be able to develop our 5th Generation fighter jet as soon as possible. Our region is requiring strong air forces and with that dynamics we don't even know what will happen tomorrow let alone after 15, 20 or 25 years.
