My best friend lives in a social housing complex, not because he's poor but because it's quite normal here in Denmark. Owning a house has benefits, but requires you to be handyman as buying services are very expensive.

Common in Singapore too, in fact majority of population lives in "HDB"....i.e public housing (but very high quality and subsidised + mortgage intervened by govt).

Sign of a well run country imo.

I also live in a low income dwelling here (around slum area). Only unlike your friend I'm a dirt poor person here 🥺 I live at around US$6 / day 😫

The housing complex decided to upgrade from coax to fiber, an investment for less than 1 mio. dkk affecting some 160 households (64m^2 to 84m^2).
They still haven't fully transition to FO there ❓😲 Although I personally prefer copper cable due to their performance compare to FO, unfortunately from maintenance cost perspective maintaining copper based infrastructure is far more expensive than maintaining FO based. And subscriber who do need the performance of copper cable like me just isn't enough to cover the bottom line to justify the higher maintenance cost.

TDC owns the copper cables. But the internet from copper is too low. And TDC was bought by US fonds in 90’s. So no more investments and company was drained for it’s values too. So other firms started to offer fiber and invest in it too. Which is why not all of denmark has fiber.

The copper cables are the old telephone lines.

However with my other configuration this is what I get generally ;

I pay €49.99/month for 10 gbps in download and 700 mbps in upload. The €49 also includes a landline,TV services and Netflix + Amazon prime for free,quite a good deal for me.
Damn...you really hit it outta the park with those speeds for €49.99

Here I am paying $75/month (also include modem+router lease) and struggling to reach 200Mbps

Old copper and new (high performance) copper infrastructure cost the same to maintain. It's just the nature of copper. Which is why all teleco companies replacing it with FO. Although all teleco company would advertise it as performance improvement over copper, it's actually all about cheaper maintenance cost of FO

26 download- 5 upload with 6 ping.

But I have to say it is extremely unstable. I realise this especially when I play AoE2. It is almost unplayable.
