I wonder who in the government needs to get in the picture. Utterly ridiculous statements.
Is it? Than why they have ceremonials for the smallest things like first cutting of steal, hangar rollout etc. etc. all political picture of look we did it message.

Many details are given. Hürjet is under production and we will be able to see it in 2022. It will be a slightly smaller supersonic aircraft than the F16. Hürjet will be produced with GE engine at the beginning but they are planning to use domestic engines for Hürjet.

Quite sad tbh
Was eager to see it this December
Hopefully it will come early 2022

- 4 different versions
- going to replace T38, F5 etc.
- initial 55, but expected over 100 Hürjets
- engine choice F404 due to single engine configuration, which EJ200 apparently didn’t have.

Good news!
Really looking forward for the light attack version of the hurjet
This is an important project as it will hopefully replace the F16s
It can not replace F16s. Hurjet is very “light” compared with F16.
It is an important project. However it can not be a replacement of a fully fledged fighter jet.
Besides the majority of the initial production will involve trainer version. Producing the light attack version will take a long time.
The link given here has some erroneous specification details;
1. The max speed is 1.4 Mach.
2. Unless we are buying the 19000lbf thrust IN20 model made for Indian airforce, the engine thrust level is 17700lbf for the chosen engine model of f404GE102.
Most important aspect of this project is going to be the confidence it will give to our production team in Tusas, SSB and to the public. It will be the first ever jet engined supersonic plane we will have produced as Turkey.

This source shared the old characteristics of Hürjet. The length of the Hurjet is 13.6m(previously 13m) and the new wing area is 35m2 (previously 24m2)

Is it because of the nose, it said in the article the nose tip would be following F16 design.

Hürjets RCS would be somewhat similar to Jas Gripen, but more modern.

About hürjet engine ... What about the export licence ? Had tei already received any engines ?

If the news is right Tusas submitted a bid to the Malaysian LCA light fighter aircraft tender with the Hürjet.

Could it be that Tusas tries to get Malaysia on board for both Hurjet and TFx projects?

Hey All,

Been a long time lurker and recently a member. Fantastic forum.

I have a question regarding Hurjet, a while ago TAI signed an engineering support agreement with a company from the UK, Stirling Dynamics. Does anyone know how much that contract was for? Like dollar value?

I am starting a youtube channel and a defence blog (like self published defence articles and opinion pieces etc.), hope to share it with you all one day and also I appreciate any help and suggestion regarding what you would like to see, format etc. Thank you/Teşekkürler!

Hurjet and TFX prototypes are suppose to fly with GE engines. Is there any plan to use alternative engines for the prototypes?

So it looks like the prototypes are going to be with GE engines.
But when you look at how KAI T50 is being offered to potential customers with EJ200 or F414 engines, it is logical that another engine that can fit in to the plane, with a bit of re-designing, can be considered. KlimovRD93 can be a candidate for Hurjet.
AL31 or AL41 series engines are rather big compared to f110. Hence substantial alterations may be needed. So I can’t really see an engine that can be an alternative For TFX.

I believe the problem here would be the budget
TAI isnt monolithic and is undergoing many projects in a short time frame (TFX, Hurjet, Goksungur, Atak II etc) and must submit most of them by 2023
I dont think TAI has the capacity for such an endeavour

Why F 404, why not stronger F 414 engine ?
